Glow in The Dark Flames!

Hey everyone!
It’s been a while ( and by a while I really mean months… Ooops) since my last post.

glow in the dark fire nail art

I really needed a break from everything! I have had a lot of stuff going on that in all honesty has been simultaneously boring and stressful! But I’m not going bore you all with the details!

Instead I have some Glow in the Dark Fire nails to share 😀

I really think these would be great for Halloween!

Flame Nails![/caption]

The stuff I used

  • Stamping Plate MM27
  • Seche Vite
  • Hit The Bottle Stamping Polish – Black
  • Glow In The Dark Polish Orange and Yellow
  • Models Own – Zest a Peel
  • Sally Hansen – Lite

Flame Nails

I used the Models Own and Sally Hansen Polishes to create a gradient, I think using some white undies would have saved me a lot of layers!

Then I added the glow in the dark polish the ones I used are just cheap Pound shop unbranded ones but they do glow reasonably well, I think using some better quality glowing polish would improve this a lot.

Then when It was dry (this took ages) I used MM27 and Hit The Bottle Stamping Polish to add the flames!

Then a coat of Seche Vite and a bit of a clean up to finish it off.

Even if it is orange and yellow this mani makes me really happy! 😀

Purple Dragon Egg!

Hey Everyone! 🙂

Sorry for being MIA for a while, I’ll explain most of what’s been going on at the end of this post!

Purple Dragon Egg

Purple Dragon Egg

Here is my purple dragon egg! I really do love making these, they can take a long time to make (especially the large ones) but I do find there is something really satisfying about completing one!

This isn’t the first time I have made these you can find my first Dragon Egg post HERE

Purple Dragon Egg

All the Purple Polish

These are the polishes I used

  • Revlon – Star Watch
  • Laval – Black (I forgot to add this one in the photograph)
  • Sally Hansen – Currant Trend
  • Sinful Colors – Winterberry
  • Sally Hansen – Lick-O-Rich
  • Sally Hansen – Grape Race
  • Sinful Colors – I Miss You

I decided on seven purple and black polishes with different finishes, Creme, Texture, Magnetic, Glitter, Shimmer and Metallic!

Purple Dragon Egg

Texture!

Looking at these pictures of my dragon egg, I should probably have added another coat of polish…

But I was feeling impatient, so I didn’t lol! 🙂

Purple Dragon Egg

Well that’s it for the dragon egg! I’m not going to be offended if you want to stop reading here!

🙂

I’m going to start with some fun stuff! I finally got my grubby paws on some lovely A England polishes! Yay! I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get some!

I have also invested in a couple of Helmers (from Ikea). Hopefully they’ll help to keep my growing collection of polishes all neat and tidy! 😀

And I met this fuzzy guy! 🙂

So, on to the first rubbish thing to happen.

One of my gloves split while I was using a home hair dye kit, the hole in the glove was deceptively tiny, at the time it seemed like I had more dye inside the glove than on my hair :/

the staining was really bad across the back of my hand, my knuckles and my ring and middle fingers. My skin and nails where stained a really nasty grey/brown/blue! and of course it was my swatching hand. Ugh the horror!

I tried everything I could think of to get rid of it, Hair Dye stain remover, Bubblewhite, Scrubbing, Whitening Toothpaste, Bleach… The Bleach was a mistake, it changed the colour to a grey/green which was even worse.

With all the scrubbing, washing and chemicals I managed to end up with a really unpleasant case of Contact Dermatitis. And on top of that my poor nails started flaking and were so brittle that they would break and peel with the slightest pressure.

I’m so glad that the damage has mostly gone, my nails still feel a little weak, but I now have a few millimeters of free edge! Yay!

I’m never ever going to use the gloves that come in the Hair dye kits ever again!

The other dreadful thing that happened (this is much worse) is that my mother is in hospital. She fell and fractured her hip.

She had to have an operation to pin the break back together, during the procedure she lost a lot of blood and was in intensive care for a few days.

It’s been a couple of weeks since the operation and she is doing much better! She’s now been transferred to a hospital closer to home and amazingly she’s even been walking a little! 🙂

I’ll keep this brief otherwise I’ll end up writing pages (and pages) about what’s been happening!

Hopefully now that mum is recovering and everything is less stressful I should hopefully (fingers crossed) be able to start blogging regularly again!

🙂

Rhinestone Spider!

*PRESS SAMPLE*

Hello! 😀

Rhinestone Spider Born Pretty

Rhinestone Spider

Today I have some cute Rhinestone spider nail gems that have been sent to me for review from BornPretty to show you.

Rhinestone Spider

SPIDERS!

You can find them right here! Born Pretty Rhinestone Spiders and if you use the code RPG10 you can get 10% off!

Rhinestone Spider

NYC 001 – Evil

The other things I used for this mani are

  • NYC – Evil
  • Color Club – Lumin-Iceant
  • Moyou Pro Collection XL stamping plate 05
  • Seche Vite

I started out with two coats of Evil, it’s a nice black cream but, that name! Evil! Who thought that one up? ugh!

I used Lumin-Iceant to stamp the spiderweb design from Moyou Pro 05 and topped it off with a coat of Seche Vite

When that had dried it was time to apply the spider, But I found this…

Rhinestone Spider

Not very flat at all!

The back of the spider wasn’t flat, it looks to be something to do with the manufacturing process.

So I decided to remove it using an old metal nail file, it only took a couple of minutes and it worked really well! Although it was a little bit fiddly to keep a good grip on the spider while filing as they are tiny!

Now I have a flat bottomed spider. I applied a thick coat of Seche Vite to my ring finger nail and positioned it on my nail using tweezers, and gently pressed it onto the nail until the topcoat had dried.

I think these little spiders are really cute, but I really like spiders! 😀

Stained Glass Nail Art

Hello! 🙂

Today I have Stained Glass nail art to share with you

Stained Glass Nail Art

Stained Glass Nail Art

For this I used

  • Revlon – Stiletto
  • Rimmel – Shooting Star (Space Dust)
  • Filthy Gorgeous – Prism
  • Moyou Gothic Collection 04
  • Konad Black
  • Seche Vite
  • Permanent Marker Pens

Stained Glass Nail Art

I started our with a Glittery base, I used two coats of Shooting star followed by one coat of prism.

As Shooting Star is a textured polish, I added a coat of Seche Vite for a smooth surface to stamp over.

I used Konad Special Polish in Black for the Image. Then another coat of SV over the stamping!

Stained Glass Nail Art

Moyou Gothic Collection 04

My first attempt to add colour to my stained glass nails was with my tinted polishes, and it really didn’t go well! It was lumpy, bubbly and the colours really weren’t bright enough. I had only  tried this on my index finger so I hid the horrible mess with a coat of Stiletto.

This was a bit of an experiment to see if it would work! I coloured in my nails using permanent marker pens! I only tried it because I thought I was going to take off the polish and start again!

It’s very pretty but It’s probably not the best idea I’ve had… I should probably invest in some good quality tinted polishes!

I didn’t add any topcoat over the ink, I tried on my pinky nail and the Seche Vite dissolved the colours, so I covered that with a coat of Stiletto as well.

Stained Glass Nail Art

Permanent Marker Pens…

I didn’t wear this for very long, and I wouldn’t recommend colouring in your nails with permanent marker pens!

Geometric Nail With Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

Hey everyone! Long time to see! 🙂

Geometric nail art using Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

I have been so busy the past couple of weeks I haven’t had a chance to post anything :/ But more on that later.

Todays post is a catch up mani for the 52 week pick and mix challenge! So here are my Geometric nails! 🙂

Geometric nail art using Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

Tape!

The polishes I used for this are Velocity the pinky lilac shade, Swarm which is the black glitter in clear a base and the black polish is called Scorn. I used tape to mask off the bits of my nail!

I think it would have been a lot quicker to create if I had applied quick drying topcoat between the layers of polish!

The last couple of weeks have been rather busy, I’ve spent most of it covered in mud, compost and seeds, my little home is filled with mud and plants, every surface seems to be covered in pots and germinating seeds…After all the planting my poor hands have been in such a state.

Hopefully everything has calmed down a bit now so I can get back to posting regularly! 😀
