Franken Polish!!!

Hello! I hope you are having a lovely start to the week! 🙂

While I was ill I made five Franken Polishes!

If you haven’t come across the term “Franken Polish” before, basically it’s mixing polishes you already own to make something new and unique!

Pile of nail polish

I’m hoping it was because I was ill and full of medication, (rather than being scatterbrained and disorganized) but I didn’t actually write down which polishes I used…  But I did leave them all in a box…

I’ve mostly worked out which ones I mixed together, but the ratio of polishes, I have no idea :/ It’s a mystery!

Purple shimmer franken polish

The first one is this purple shimmery polish, this one is definitely made from a mix of Prosperity from Illamasqua, Little Misfit from Morgan Taylor and a few drops of one of the Jade Holographic polishes.

I have been asking myself one question while I have been trying these. “If I had brought this polish, would I be happy with it?”

This one is definitely a yes! Purple is one of my favorite nail polish colours ever, it’s pretty much one coat, (I did use two for this swatch) and it dries to a satin finish, and the slight holographic sparkle stops it from looking flat and dull.

I’m really happy with this one 😀

The next polish is this glittery dark blue jelly.

blue jelly glitter franken polish

After a close inspection of the bottle, this polish looks to be a combination of Blue Dahlia from Estee Lauder, Rimmel London – Finishing Touch Glitter Topcoat, Barielle Shades – Stardust, Filthy Gorgeous – Rock Chick and Maybelline Express Finish – Flash Cosmic.

This is such a pretty blue polish! It’s a shame it doesn’t apply very well… Hopefully all it needs is a drop or two of thinner. As is is right now, I have to say it’s like trying to paint my nails with lumpy jam!

The colour and glitter are really pretty but if I had brought this, I would send it back!

Next up is this dark silver/black holographic polish.

black silver holographic franken polish

The ingredients in this one was actually quite easy to work out. just two polishes in this one, Sally Hansen – Pure Midnight and Jade – Estasy.

It’s a really pretty sheer scattered holo polish (I’m really pleased with this one)

would I be happy with this if I had brought it? with out a doubt yes!

grey gold glitter franken polish

I don’t know what I was thinking when I made this grey one… I like grey polish, but I really don’t like this…

It’s made from Illamasqua – Raindrops, Bettina – Iron, Different Dimension – Light Year and Daring Digits – Batman

On their own each of these polishes are lovely, but when combined they become a thing of horror. HORROR!

Some of this polish dries the moment it’s applied to the nail, so the first coat was lovely, fast drying, really good amount of glitter. The second coat appears to re liquefy the first coat and changes the consistency to something resembling scrambled egg. Ugh!

This photo is from the second time I tried it, I left half an hour between the two coats and it was still a bit lumpy. I added two layers of Seche Vite to try and even it out lol

I hope that I never receive anything like this from a polish company.  It needs a stake through it and burying at a crossroad!

pink shimmer franken polish

Here is the last one! This pink is (as far as I can tell) a mixture of Pink Raindrops and Collide both from Illamasqua and Glass Slipper from Sally Hansen.

Pink Raindrops from Illamasqua is one of the most disappointing nail polishes I have ever brought. but I’m sure I’ll find some use for it! (even if it is just mixing it with other ones)

This is another polish that I’m not convinced about, it applies really nicely, and it’s really sparkly, but that shade of pink, it’s really not a shade that I would be drawn to. Maybe I mixed this one in the dark lol

If this was a darker or more purple toned pink it would be lovely, it’s opaque in two coats and dried quickly so yes, I would be happy with it if I had brought it!

I think next time I make some franken polishes I’m definitely going to write everything down lol! 🙂

Purple Glittery Leopard Print!

Hey! 🙂

purple leopard print nail art

This is my first attempt at freehand leopard print! It seems odd that this is something I haven’t tried before, I think it’s because I have quite a few stamping plates with a leopard pattern.

I’m pretty happy with how this turned out, it’s not perfect, and my silver lines are a little bit wobbly, but I think that adds to the charm lol!

This is the stuff I used,

  • Sinful Colors – Mauve
  • Color Club – The Uptown
  • Chanel – Vendetta
  • China Glaze – I’d Melt Fop You
  • Seche Vite
  • Illamasqua Matte Topcoat
  • Thin Nail Art Brush

This took less than 10 minutes to finish, I think if I had chosen to do smaller spots it would have taken quite a bit longer. 🙂

I have to say I’m feeling a lot better, I think the horrid ills have finally gone! Yay! 😀

My Almost New Year Nails!

Hello! I hope you are having a fantastic start to this brand new year!

This is the nail design that I was going to be wearing at new year but because I was ill, I ended up not going anywhere other than my sofa and feeling sorry for myself. Boooo!

But these nails are so pretty I had to share them with you all! 🙂 So sparkly!

Annoyingly, after only a couple of days of getting better from my last horrible cold,  I seem to be coming down with another one D:

Stoopid germs!

The polishes I used for this very sparkly look are Maxxed Out from CrowsToes and Beauty Never fails from A England!

If you’re interested, you can find my swatch of Beauty Never Fails (along with my other lovely A England polishes) Here

I decided on using Beauty Never fails rather than a black cream because of the beautiful greenish gold shimmer running through it, I think it really complements the magnificent sparkles of Maxxed Out.

Maxxed Out is quite possibly the sparkliest nail polish I own! It’s one of the lovely collection of polishes I picked up from a blog de-stash from the lovely Debbie over at The Crumpet!

Look at all the holographic glitters! Lots of varying sized hex in different shades of gold, gold glitter and a smattering of quite long bar glitters.

With this super sparkly glitter bomb I was expecting application to be a nightmare but I actually really easy to apply, all the glitters behaved I didn’t have to fish for any of the larger ones, and applied they all laid flat against my nails, the only bits that I moved around where some of the bar glitters.

The first coat of glitter I used a sponge just to add a layer of glitter like a messy french tip, after applying the second coat, with the brush I realised that I really didn’t need to have done the sponge coat at all!

I added one coat of Seche Vite to smooth it out and add a glassy finish, then very carefully filed away the overhanging glitter (some how I forget to file my thumb, I’m going to blame the germs).

I’m not usually a fan of gold nail polish, but I really do like both of these! 😀

HPB Presents – “What Is The Christmas Pickle?”

Hello! 🙂

christmas pickle nail art

What is the Christmas Pickle?

Seriously! I have no idea what this is about! Maybe it’s because I live in the UK that I haven’t heard of this vinegary tradition, here we just bake lucky silver coins into our puddings, well you get luck or a broken tooth…

christmas pickle nail art

Is it a lucky pickle? If you are lucky enough to find this mystical vegetable are you blessed with a year of produce in jars? Or even a deluge of vinegar based condiments! Ugh I have so many questions.

For my pickle nails I used

  • Hits Speciallita – Samba
  • Sinful Colors – Snow Me White
  • China Glaze – Tip Your Hat
  • Zoya – Logan
  • Revlon – Rain Forest
  • Barry M – Red Glitter
  • Illamasqua – Omen
  • Indigo Bananas – Chill Out
  • Seche Vite
  • A Tiny Brush
  • And the smallest dotting tool I own.

I started with three coats of Samba for the base and Snow Me White for the french tip, when this had dried I applied a little Chill Out over the tips. It really does look like sparkly snow, it really is a very pretty polish.

The branches are a mixture of Omen, Rain Forest and Logan applied with a thin brush.

The little berries are a mixture of Barry M Red Glitter and Tip Your Hat, I had to mix the glitter in with another red as it’s getting old and stringy and I’ve run out of polish thinner (bad times!).

The pickle is Omen from Illamasqua with a couple of stripes of Rain Forest!

I used a lot of glitter polishes in this mani and it needed a couple of coats of Seche Vite to give it a glassy smooth finish!

I think that this is actually the most festive mani I have created this holiday season!

Christmas Spider!

Have you ever heard of the legend if the Christmas Spider?

Christmas Spider Nail Art

I think the Christmas Spider is a really lovely Christmas story.

“According to ancient storytellers, there once was a widow living in her cramped, cold hut with her children. One day, a pine cone dropped from the tree outside and took root. The children, excited by the prospect of a tree for Christmas, tended the seedling and made plans about how they would decorate the tree. Poverty was a way of life for the small family, and when Christmas approached, the widow knew that they would not be able to decorate the tree. The children and the widow accepted their fate and went to bed on Christmas Eve, the tiny tree branches bare.

But the household’s spiders heard the children’s sobs and spun intricate webs on the tree. Early on Christmas morning, the children cried, “Mother, mother wake up and see the tree. It is beautiful!” The widow rose to find that during the cold night a spider had spun its web around the fragile branches. As the rays of the sun crept along the floor and silently climbed the tree, the glow touched the threads of the web turning each one into silver and gold, and, as the story goes, from that day forward the widow never wanted for anything.”

Grüß Vom Krampus

Hey 🙂

krampus nail art

Grüß Vom Krampus or Greetings from Krampus!

Here are my nails form the weekend.  As Krampusnacht is on the 5th of December I just had to wear some Krampus inspired nail art! 🙂

If you’re not familiar with the legend of the Krampus, he is the devilish companion of St. Nicholas.

St. Nicholas brings gifts and rewards to good children each year on December the 6th and leaves punishing the bad children to The Krampus! The wicked child would be beaten with a bundle of birch sticks, whipped with horsehair, then thrown into a wicker basket and taken down to Hell for a year.

If nothing else it’s definitely a terrifying way to get your kids to behave! Lol!

krampus nail art

I spent ages trying to draw a tiny Krampus on my nail, but it really didn’t go well :/ I decided to see if I had any stamping plates with suitable images, and I did! 🙂

The goat skull is from Plate MM11 from Messy Mansion and the tree branches are from plate 14 from Moyou mother nature collection.

I used Lots of Red Polishes for the base of this Manicure

  • Barry M Red Glitter
  • Chanel Dragon
  • Chanel Rouge Noir
  • Color Club Rad-icle Gypsy
  • Illamasqua Scarab

I smooshed them all together on the back of a stamping plate then used a stamper to splat it onto my nails! It’s a really fun technique, but it is incredibly messy 🙂

for the stamping I used Hit The Bottle Black and Seche Vite to finish it all off

Have you been good this year or did the Krampus Come to get you?
