I really wasn’t feeling like doing anything to complicated with my nails today, so I decided on this black and bright green gradient.
Thinking about it this would look great as part of a Spooky Witch costume! 😀
The three polishes I used are all from Illamasqua! the Bright green is called Nurture, Scorn is the black polish, and the matte black glitter topper is Swarm!
I have to say I’m still not the biggest fan of Green Polish, but as a Halloween mani this is quite fun 🙂
In the interests of full disclosure, I received the leadlight lacquer Stamping plate free of charge, but not for review. The wonderful people over at Messy Mansion sent me a couple extra plates when my last order went missing. How lovely is that!? 🙂
This mani is one of the ones I created before disappearing for a while, I liked this one far too much not to share it with you.
I really love the look and how easy edge gradients are, the only down side is that they are really messy, a lot more so than a standard across the nail gradient!
I do find that a tiny bit of petroleum jelly/Vaseline rubbed around the cuticle area helps with clean up a huge amount, when the polish is dry it can be wiped away with a tissue, or a gentle scrub with a nail brush.
Hello! I have a really fun product to show you today! 😀
These Japanese LED Nail Decals that have been kindly been sent to me from www.omgnailstrips.com.
omg led nail decal
From the OMG website – “The LED light chip is powered by NFC fields given off by most Android phones, Point of Sale Machines, Apple Pay and many other electronics, meaning when in the presence of these NFC fields your nail will light up and blink.”
And OMG are also in the process of designing an App for Android that would allow the nail to light up when you get different types of notifications on your phone. How amazing is that!?
OMG supply two types of led stickers, one specifically for Gel polish which is the chip on it’s own and the set with stickers is for use with regular nail polish.
The Decals are $5.99 per pack with free international shipping and are available in White, Green and Blue, for Gel and White, Red and Blue for regular polish!
Both chips I have to show you today are white ones!
Here is a little video (be nice, I don’t do videos often lol) of the chip for Gel polish directly on the back of my phone.
Applying the chip was really simple, the clear part of the decal is really easy to trim to size, I used a couple of coats of black polish to hide the chip, being very careful not to cover the LED.
Flash!
I decided to use the pink rose accent sticker from the set. I found that the adhesive on the stickers is very strong, so repositioning it is a bit of a challenge.
I used Seche Vite topcoat and I did find that the Accent sticker went a little bit crinkly as the polish dried. I don’t know if a non quick dry topcoat would have the same effect on the accent stickers, unfortunately I don’t have any on hand to try!
Here’s another little video of it in action. This time on my nail 🙂
The decals for using with regular polish are available Here
The other products I used for this look are
Barry M – Shocking Pink
Butter London – Frilly Knickers
Illamasqua – Scorn
Moyou – Pro collection XL 07
Konad – Special Polish Black
Seche Vite Topcoat
omg led decal review
I found that to get the best and brightest flashes I had to be holding my phone close to where the NFC chip is located. Unfortunately these won’t work with iphones.
Make sure that NFC setting is turned on on your phone or the LED won’t work!
I really do like these LED decals, they are so fun to wear!
I have been so busy the past couple of weeks I haven’t had a chance to post anything But more on that later.
Todays post is a catch up mani for the 52 week pick and mix challenge! So here are my Geometric nails! 🙂
Tape!
The polishes I used for this are Velocity the pinky lilac shade, Swarm which is the black glitter in clear a base and the black polish is called Scorn. I used tape to mask off the bits of my nail!
I think it would have been a lot quicker to create if I had applied quick drying topcoat between the layers of polish!
Geometric nail art using Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn
The last couple of weeks have been rather busy, I’ve spent most of it covered in mud, compost and seeds, my little home is filled with mud and plants, every surface seems to be covered in pots and germinating seeds…After all the planting my poor hands have been in such a state.
Hopefully everything has calmed down a bit now so I can get back to posting regularly! 😀
For your viewing pleasure here are the second half of the Illamasqua polishes I recently purchased!
These polishes are
DWS
Velocity
Scarab
Swarm
Harem
Regal
Vice
Scorn
Starting with a grey polish that’s been on my wish list for ages
DWS
DWS
DWS is a lovely light flat grey cream. The formula is fantastic, it flows easily from the brush and was opaque in two coats.
I’m so glad I got this one, I really like grey nail polish and this one is definitely going in my top 10 🙂
Velocity
Velocity
Velocity is a lovely grey purple creme, like DWS the formula is fantastic, only taking two coats to be opaque.
Scarab
Scarab
Scarab is a brown toned red metallic polish, this is a really foxy polish! The polish itself is a dark grey, almost black jelly which gives the finished colour a lot of depth.
This took three coats to be opaque.
I have to admit that brown/orange tinted reds are not my favorite, but this is a really flattering shade for my skin tone.
Swarm
Swarm
Swarm is a black glitter topper, it’s made up of matte black micro glitter and matte black medium sized hex glitter, the glitter payoff is pretty good, I did find that the glitter tends to clump a bit This is one coat over Illamasqua’s Collide.
Harem
Harem
Harem is a really pretty violet toned pink, the formula is really lovely, very creamy with loads of pigment, this is three coats.
Regal
Regal
Regal is a really lovely shade of dark blue, I found the formula to be a bit odd, it’s nice and easy to apply, if a little watery. I think the only way I can describe it is somewhere between a crelly and a cream, this is four coats and there is still some VNL!
Vice
Vice
Vice is a pretty pinkish wine. It has the lovely Latex finish, I found that it dries to a slightly more red than the shade in the bottle. This is two coats, I found that it also dries slightly faster than the glossy Illamasqua polishes.
Scorn
Scorn
Scorn is an lovely satin finish black, it’s definitely one of my favorite black polishes! This is two coats.
