Indian Summer Half Moon Mani

Hello! 🙂

CrowsToes Indian Summer Nail Art

I have had the most horrible episode (for lack of a better word) of dare I say it, writers block. It’s honestly been horrendous :/ Every time I have tried to write it’s as though the words all fall out of my brain, it’s been like looking for black cats in a dark room!

After two weeks of trying to write I realized that I should just stop trying and getting myself all stressed out about it, and take a bit of a break. I think it worked!

So to celebrate my brain no longer being filled with pocket lint I have this delightful half moon mani to show you 🙂

I wanted a design that would complement the stunning Indian Summer without overwhelming it.

and yeah, in hindsight I think I did go a bit overboard with the nail studs 😀

Oh this polish is glorious! Just look at the shift in colour, it’s so pretty!

I’m so glad that I finally got myself a bottle of this wonderful polish!

Scribbled Nails!

Hey! 🙂

scribble nail art

Today I have another new to me technique to share with you all 🙂

scribble nail art

This really was incredibly easy to do! I started by painting a square of polish (on my lovely pink silicone baking sheet) then scribbling over it with my smallest dotting tool, you could probably use a toothpick or folded hair slide and get the same effect.

When it had dried I added a layer of topcoat to make the decal!

scribble nail art

The polish I used as the base for this nail art look is Barry M – Orchid, and for the scribbled decals I used NYC – Evil and Seche Vite.

I came across this technique from catching a few seconds of a nail art compilation video I saw in a facebook group, I don’t know if the post was removed as when I went back to look I couldn’t find it again :/

So if by any chance you know who came up with this please let me know so I can properly give them credit! 😀

Dark Stripes

Hello! 🙂

Dark Striped Nail Art

Here are my dark and stripy nails! This has been adorning my finger nails all weekend 🙂

Dark Striped Nail Art

I created the gradient with two polishes from Morgan Taylor. Rebel With A Cause and New Year New Blue.

Then I added the striping tape and it took ages! And I failed miserably at getting the tape even remotely spaced correctly on my dominant hand so I gave up after one nail and have been pottering about all weekend feeling very uneven lol!

The black I used is A England Camelot. then finished it off with a layer of Seche Vite!

here is a (bonus lol) photo with the flash to show the colours a little more 🙂

Franken Polish!!!

Hello! I hope you are having a lovely start to the week! 🙂

While I was ill I made five Franken Polishes!

If you haven’t come across the term “Franken Polish” before, basically it’s mixing polishes you already own to make something new and unique!

Pile of nail polish

I’m hoping it was because I was ill and full of medication, (rather than being scatterbrained and disorganized) but I didn’t actually write down which polishes I used…  But I did leave them all in a box…

I’ve mostly worked out which ones I mixed together, but the ratio of polishes, I have no idea :/ It’s a mystery!

Purple shimmer franken polish

The first one is this purple shimmery polish, this one is definitely made from a mix of Prosperity from Illamasqua, Little Misfit from Morgan Taylor and a few drops of one of the Jade Holographic polishes.

I have been asking myself one question while I have been trying these. “If I had brought this polish, would I be happy with it?”

This one is definitely a yes! Purple is one of my favorite nail polish colours ever, it’s pretty much one coat, (I did use two for this swatch) and it dries to a satin finish, and the slight holographic sparkle stops it from looking flat and dull.

I’m really happy with this one 😀

The next polish is this glittery dark blue jelly.

blue jelly glitter franken polish

After a close inspection of the bottle, this polish looks to be a combination of Blue Dahlia from Estee Lauder, Rimmel London – Finishing Touch Glitter Topcoat, Barielle Shades – Stardust, Filthy Gorgeous – Rock Chick and Maybelline Express Finish – Flash Cosmic.

This is such a pretty blue polish! It’s a shame it doesn’t apply very well… Hopefully all it needs is a drop or two of thinner. As is is right now, I have to say it’s like trying to paint my nails with lumpy jam!

The colour and glitter are really pretty but if I had brought this, I would send it back!

Next up is this dark silver/black holographic polish.

black silver holographic franken polish

The ingredients in this one was actually quite easy to work out. just two polishes in this one, Sally Hansen – Pure Midnight and Jade – Estasy.

It’s a really pretty sheer scattered holo polish (I’m really pleased with this one)

would I be happy with this if I had brought it? with out a doubt yes!

grey gold glitter franken polish

I don’t know what I was thinking when I made this grey one… I like grey polish, but I really don’t like this…

It’s made from Illamasqua – Raindrops, Bettina – Iron, Different Dimension – Light Year and Daring Digits – Batman

On their own each of these polishes are lovely, but when combined they become a thing of horror. HORROR!

Some of this polish dries the moment it’s applied to the nail, so the first coat was lovely, fast drying, really good amount of glitter. The second coat appears to re liquefy the first coat and changes the consistency to something resembling scrambled egg. Ugh!

This photo is from the second time I tried it, I left half an hour between the two coats and it was still a bit lumpy. I added two layers of Seche Vite to try and even it out lol

I hope that I never receive anything like this from a polish company.  It needs a stake through it and burying at a crossroad!

pink shimmer franken polish

Here is the last one! This pink is (as far as I can tell) a mixture of Pink Raindrops and Collide both from Illamasqua and Glass Slipper from Sally Hansen.

Pink Raindrops from Illamasqua is one of the most disappointing nail polishes I have ever brought. but I’m sure I’ll find some use for it! (even if it is just mixing it with other ones)

This is another polish that I’m not convinced about, it applies really nicely, and it’s really sparkly, but that shade of pink, it’s really not a shade that I would be drawn to. Maybe I mixed this one in the dark lol

If this was a darker or more purple toned pink it would be lovely, it’s opaque in two coats and dried quickly so yes, I would be happy with it if I had brought it!

I think next time I make some franken polishes I’m definitely going to write everything down lol! 🙂

Morgan Taylor Pretty Wild, Little Misfit and Rebel With a Cause.

Hello! 🙂

Today I have three very pretty polishes from Morgan Taylor to share with you. Pretty Wild, Little Misfit and Rebel With a Cause.

Pretty Wild

morgan taylor pretty wild swatch

Pretty Wild Is a really lovely greyed out lilac. The formula is really nice, it has a very rich and creamy  consistency and dried really quickly.

I have to say the colour is extremely similar to Sally Hansen Greige Gardens although Pretty wild is a touch warmer. I should probably do a comparison post of all my purpley grey polishes, I’m starting to get quite a collection!

This is two coats Pretty Wild with no topcoat!

Little Misfit

morgan taylor little misfit

Little Misfit is a very sheer multi chrome polish, it is very pretty! looks like a silvery rainbow in a bottle!

On my ring finger is one coat of Little Misfit over black, on the rest of my nails four coats!

The flash did make the sheerness a little more apparent, there definitely is very noticeable VNL!

But as a topper this polish is really lovely. it dries quickly and the application is really smooth., and it’s shiny enough to not need a top coat.

Rebel With a Cause

morgan taylor rebel with a cause

Out of these three polishes this one is my favorite. Rebel With a Cause is a stunning deep wine/berry red, with a slight gold shimmer and iridescent micro glitter.

All of the glitters and shimmers in this polish make it look like a metallic finish but without all the pesky brushstrokes!

The coverage with this polish is amazing, with careful application this could be opaque in one coat, this is two coats, because I wasn’t very careful lol

😀

Halloween Monster Eyes and Some Candlewick Greens Waxy Goodness!

Hello! 🙂

Halloween Monster Eyes

Sorry about the lack of posts last week, I managed to cut my finger :/ don’t worry, it’s on my dominant hand so there won’t be any gory pictures! And I’ve also have a cold (ugh, stoopid germs).

But now that I have dragged myself out of my sofa cocoon and polish remover isn’t really painful to use. I can share with you a two part post starting with these Monster Eyes! 🙂

halloween monster eyes

For my monster eye nails I used

  • Revlon – Stiletto
  • Illamasqua – poke
  • Sally Hansen – Blue Streak
  • Barry M – Crystal Glaze
  • Seche Vite
  • Illamasqua – Matte Top Coat

Thinking about it I didn’t really think through the steps for making the eyes. So I think they do look a little messy round the edges.

halloween monster eyes

The gradient is Poke and Blue Streak with a coat of Crystal Glaze over the top, then with a thin brush I added the eye shape using Stiletto.

In hindsight I should have used tape or something to mask off the eyes, It would have made the edges of the matte topcoat look a lot cleaner.

candlewick green sandalwood vanilla wax melt

A quick question… Have you seen a nail polish that looks like the picture above? If you have please let me know, as I want something like this on my nails right now 🙂

As I’m sure you can tell the photograph isn’t nail polish, its wax! Which brings me on to the second part of my post!

I want to show you some wax melts from a really lovely little company here in the UK. It’s not often that I come across wax melts that I’m really impressed with, but these honestly are amazing! Before I carry on I should let you know that I purchased these myself!

I have pet rats, at the moment I have 8 of the whiskery critters in my living room, and like any pets they can get really rather stinky, so I do end up looking for lovely room fragrances quite often.

These wax melts are so loaded with fragrance that one quarter of a pot is enough to scent the whole of my apartment all day!

If my nostrils could sing with happiness they would be, and not in a creepy old man nose whistle way!

The Candlewick Greens Shop is right here if you would like to have a look 🙂  http://www.candlewick-greens.appspot.com/index.html

candlewick green wax tart melt autumn wreath

Autumn Wreath is the melt I have in my warmer right now, it’s so nice, slightly spiced apples and crunchy leaves!

There is a facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/740123009371304/?fref=ts

it’s the best place to fins out about the restocks and upcoming new scents 😀

candlewick green wax melt tart gingerbread latte

Gingerbread Latte smells just like the drink, I have found that some coffee/creamy scented candles and melts (from a well known brand that happens to start with the letter Y) have this nasty chemical plastic smell. But not these, they smell heavenly!

Another wonderful thing about these wax melts is that most of them are covered in glitter and shimmers! Yay for glitter 😀

The best way to order these lovely melts is through the ready to ship page. http://www.candlewick-greens.appspot.com/readytoship.html

candlewick green wax melt sticky toffee pumpkin waffle

Sticky Toffee Pumpkin Waffle smells so amazing I want to eat it! But I’m sure it wouldn’t taste nearly as good lol!

Out of all the different scent collections on offer at candlewick Greens I have to say my favorite is the Mystical ones!

But I have found one little problem with the bakery scents… Being surrounded by wonderful cake smells makes me really hungry! 😀

Oh if you do make an order for some of this lovely wax (you really won’t be disappointed) if you could leave a note with your order about finding out about them here that would be amazing! 😀
