Moyou London Gothic Collection plates 1 to 4 Review

Hallo!

Today I have the first four plates from the Moyou Gothic Collection to show you!

Moyou Gothic Collection

Moyou Gothic Collection

I have to say I haven’t really been that interested in the more recent collections from Moyou London, but then they had to go and bring this collection out… Oh my poor bank account!

Moyou Gothic Collection plates 01 and 02

I have to say after doing all of these I have realized I’m definitely better at stamping onto my nails than onto paper, lol there was polish everywhere!

Plate 01

Plate 01

Plate number 1!

With all Moyou plates I have used the images transfer really cleanly and this plate is no exception! I really like the Dr Who(-ish) weeping angel, the spooky tree, and the couple of symbols from the TV show Supernatural.

There’s one thing that bugs me about these full image Moyou plates, (its with all of them, so not just the Gothic Collection ones) there will be an amazing pattern, for example the patterns on the roof of the carousel, each of those would make amazing full nail designs, but they are they are just to small :/ and they aren’t repeated anywhere else in the collection. Gah! But enough of me complaining ๐Ÿ™‚

I think this plate is closer to a Halloween theme rather than a Gothic one, It really is very cute and there are a lot of images I’ll definitely be using! So I’m not saying that as a bad thing! ๐Ÿ™‚

But I just have to say the middle image on the bottom row… Nothing screams goth like a googly eyed fish monster! lol

Plate 02

Plate 02

Plate 2 was actually the last plate that I stamped onto paper so sorry about the mess :/ I was starting to get really board!

I love the key and lock images, I found them to be a really good size for my nail length, but they may be a touch too long for really short nails. I have a couple of stamping plates with keys on and they are plain and boring, but these little keys have a lot of detail!

I did find that the little skull and crossbones didn’t pick up as well as the other images, (it could just have been me getting sloppy with my technique) I’m going to group them with the nine sets of vampire teeth as images I’m not particularly interested in.

I really like the Celtic knots, I have a few ideas for those already. The ankhs and the skull in a top hat… Very Alchemy Gothic!

On to plates 3 and 4!

Plate 03

Plate 03

These are both Xl plates, I found that the single images are way too big, even for my thumbs! But they might be good for my big toe nails! ๐Ÿ™‚ or they may become useable with some creative stamper squishing!

From the images on plate 3 I think the lace skull is amazing! I actually like all of the lace images from this plate. From plate 4 the images for me that really stand out are the text, tree and the crow. The only image I had a problem with stamping is the little cemetery, it needs a light touch with the scraper, it’s far to easy to scoop out the polish from the center of the hill.

Here are a couple more pictures of the mani I created while messing about with these plates!

Goth Nails!

The polishes I used are

  • Good To Grape – Sally Hansen
  • Fantasy Fire – Max Factor
  • Twilight – Filthy Gorgeous
  • Black – Konad
  • Moonstruck – Seventeen

I started with a couple of coats of Good To Grape, followed by two coats of Fantasy Fire, on my ring finger I used two coats of Twilight.

On my thumb I used the tree image from plate 1 double stamped with konad black and moonstruck, on my index finger nail the rose and fishnet image along with the lace skull on my ring finger nail are both from plate 3, the text on my middle finger is from plate 4 and finally on my little finger nail the key and lock are both from plate 2.

Then a nice thick coat of Seche Vite!

31DC2014 – Day 31 Re-create Your Favourite Challenge

Hello everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my last 31DC2014 post! And how could I not do a celebratory water marble!

Purple Water Marble

Purple Water Marble

For this I used

  • China Glaze – White on White
  • Orly – Liquid Vinyl
  • Sally Hansen – Good To Grape
  • China Glaze – Bizarre Blurple

I have been a bit lazy with choosing the polishes for this and just grabbed the closest few on my desk. ๐Ÿ˜€

Purple and Black

I may have forgotten to use tape on my fingers, so the clean up for this took ages! Ugh, and I’m a little bit annoyed about not getting my little finger nail lined up as well as the others.

I really like this colour combination especially the blue iridescent flash from Bizarre Blurple.

So, there it is the 31DC challenge all done, eventually… It only took me a couple of months longer than it should have… Ooops! ๐Ÿ˜€

31DC2014 Day 30 – Inspired By a Tutorial

Hello! ๐Ÿ˜€

This is my inspired by a tutorial post for day 30, The tutorial I decided to follow is this rather amazing one that I have been meaning to try for ages.

Nimbus Nail Art From The Nailasaurus!

The polishes I used are

  • China Glaze – White on White
  • Chanel – Vendetta
  • China Glaze – Get Outta My Space
  • Revlon – Amethyst
  • China Glaze – Bizarre Blurple
  • Sally Hansen – Good To Grape

I found that the Nimbus technique is really fun! And definitely something that I’m going to try again!

I started out with a couple of coats of white on white as the base, then starting with Vendetta which is the darkest polish I used a cotton bud soaked in acetone and polish to dot on the colour.

When each colour was dry I repeated the process (with a new cotton bud for each colour)

Then I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite!

I couldn’t resist doing a bit of stamping over this ๐Ÿ™‚

I used Plate MM07 from Messy Mansion, this is the first time I’ve used this plate and it’s really lovely! I used Konad SP Black then another coat of Seche Vite

I had better take this off and get on with the final post for the 31dc challenge! ๐Ÿ˜€

31DC2014 – Day 14 Flowers

Pink Roses

Pink Roses

My flowery nails for day 14! For a change I decided to stamp with white polish!

I started with a coat of China Glaze White On White, then I used the cling film technique to apply

  • Maybelline – Lilac Charm
  • Sally Hansen – Lavender Envy
  • China Glaze – Get Outta My Space
  • Sally Hansen – Good To Grape
  • Minnie Mouse – Pink

I ended up with really pretty pale pinky/purple sparkly nails that looked like marble!

For the stamping I used some more White On White with Pro collection 07 XL from Moyou.

Fantasy Fire Max Factor Roses

Fantasy Fire Roses

This is my 100th post ๐Ÿ˜€ย  Yay!

So today I have a Polish to show you that I keep meaning to get my grubby paws on and haven’t, until yesterday! That polish is Fantasy Fire from Max Factor!

It really is a stunning polish! it’s a mid shade purple gelly with loads of Duo-chrome micro glitter.

Fantasy Fire Max Factor Roses

Moyou Pro 07

Annoyingly I was having a really hard time with the stamping :/ it just didn’t want to work,ย  this was my third attempt lol

Anyway, I used:

  • Fantasy Fire – Max Factor
  • Good to Grape – Sally Hansen
  • Black – Konad Special Polish
  • Color Club Topcoat

I started with two coats of Good to Grape, It’s a really nice light purple but it takes ages to dry :/ when it was eventually dry I added two thin coats of fantasy fire. For the roses I used Moyou Pro plate 07 XL

Fantasy Fire! So Sparkly!

Pastel Galaxy Ruffian Nails! (almost a disaster)

Purple Pastel Galaxy Ruffian Nail Art

I decided to have a try at a pastel pink and purple galaxy mani, I thought it would be nice to try using some “spring time” colours than black lol!

So I sponge my galaxies add my stars and my glitter, tidy up my fingers and add my topcoat. It was quite late so I decided to go to bed and photograph my nails in the morning (hopefully with some sunshine)

The next day (after my second cup of coffee when I was feeling slightly more human) I noticed it…ย  Epic shrinking, I honestly haven’t seen anything like it! The polish had shrunk round the edge of my nail but not from the free edge oO

The base colour was still exactly where I had applied it and so was the topcoat! The only way I can think of to describe it is like a sandwich without enough filling! I really should have taken a picture!

After staring at it for a while I realized that I could try removing the flappy bits of topcoat and paint round the edges to make a (almost) ruffian mani.

The polishes I used:

  • Barry M – Blueberry.
  • Sally Hansen – Good To Grape.
  • Barielle Shades – Stardust.
  • Barry M – Shocking Pink.
  • Maybelline – Lilac Charm.
  • Seventeen – Pinking Shear.
  • Sinful Colors – Cinderella.
  • Sally Hansen – Lavender Envy.
  • Illamasqua – Baptiste.
  • Barry M – Pink Flamingo.

I started off with a couple of coats of Blueberry, which is a really pretty pale blue cream.

I added a few drops ofย Good To Grape,ย Shocking Pink, Lilac Charm, Pinking Shear and Pink Flamingo onto a plastic box lid (they are great for mixing polish)ย  I then used a small bit of sponge and some tweezers to dab the polish into my nails.

When that was dry I did the same with Cinderella and Lavender Envy, I applied three iridescent stars to each nail and painted on a little bit of stardust, when it was dry I applied Color Club topcoat.

Then the shrinky doom happened!

I used a nail art brush and pure acetone to remove the flappy edges of the nail polish, Then using a very tiny brush I used Baptiste to fill the gap! Cleaned up my cuticles and the rescue was complete!

I think I managed to rescue this reasonably well! I’m just wondering, has anything like this shrinking ever happened to your nails?
