Spooky Spider Halloween Gradient

Halloo! 🙂

Halloween Purple Spiderweb Nail Art

Here are some Spooky Halloween Spiders!

I decided to have a go at a new to me technique called a Radial Gradient, If you haven’t come across this before, it’s circular so instead of painting the polish across the sponge you paint it in a circle, then apply it to the nail in the same way.

I think that for a first attempt I was far to ambitious trying to use four shades (I should have tried with two to start with)

The products I used are

  • A England – Elaine
  • Revlon – Amethyst
  • China Glaze – Get Outta My Space
  • Revlon – Stiletto
  • Stamping Plate – Moyou Suki 10
  • Hit The Bottle – Black
  • Seche Vite
  • Makeup Sponge

For the gradient I used Stiletto, Elaine, Amethyst and Get Outta My Space, then a coat of Seche Vite.

When that had dried I used Black Hit The Bottle stamping polish and Moyou Suki plate 10 for the spiders and webs then another coat of SV to finish it off.

I have so many ideas for Halloween nail art that I think it’s going to take me all month to share them all! 🙂

Born Pretty Lacy Cross Water Decal Review

*Press Sample*

Hey Everyone!

Born Pretty Decal

Born Pretty Decal

Today I have some lovely water slide decals from Born Pretty to show you!

The Born Pretty name for these is “Mini Bow knot Cross Lacy Design Print Nail Art Water Decals” (quite a mouthful lol) and the item number is DS-107.

They are available right here Mini Cross Bow Decal

This is how I apply water slide decals

  1. Cut each decal out as close to the image as you can. Then remove the thin plastic cover
  2. Put the decal in some water for around 15/30 seconds. I try to float them on the surface with the image facing up
  3. Carefully remove it from the white backing, with tweezers or carefully rubbing them between my fingers.
  4. Place the decal on your nail. It helps if your nail is a little wet it makes it easier to reposition the decal if needed.
  5. Wait till it’s dry and add topcoat.

The polishes I used for this look are

  • Barry M – Bright Pink
  • Rimmel – Peppermint
  • Rimmel – Ultra Violet
  • Sinful Colors – Snow Me White

As well as loads of striping tape, french tip guides and a couple of coats of Seche Vite. 😀

Purple Dragon Egg!

Hey Everyone! 🙂

Sorry for being MIA for a while, I’ll explain most of what’s been going on at the end of this post!

Purple Dragon Egg

Purple Dragon Egg

Here is my purple dragon egg! I really do love making these, they can take a long time to make (especially the large ones) but I do find there is something really satisfying about completing one!

This isn’t the first time I have made these you can find my first Dragon Egg post HERE

Purple Dragon Egg

Texture!

Looking at these pictures of my dragon egg, I should probably have added another coat of polish…

But I was feeling impatient, so I didn’t lol! 🙂

Purple Dragon Egg

Well that’s it for the dragon egg! I’m not going to be offended if you want to stop reading here!

🙂

I’m going to start with some fun stuff! I finally got my grubby paws on some lovely A England polishes! Yay! I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get some!

I have also invested in a couple of Helmers (from Ikea). Hopefully they’ll help to keep my growing collection of polishes all neat and tidy! 😀

And I met this fuzzy guy! 🙂

Squirrel

Squirrel!

So, on to the first rubbish thing to happen.

One of my gloves split while I was using a home hair dye kit, the hole in the glove was deceptively tiny, at the time it seemed like I had more dye inside the glove than on my hair :/

the staining was really bad across the back of my hand, my knuckles and my ring and middle fingers. My skin and nails where stained a really nasty grey/brown/blue! and of course it was my swatching hand. Ugh the horror!

I tried everything I could think of to get rid of it, Hair Dye stain remover, Bubblewhite, Scrubbing, Whitening Toothpaste, Bleach… The Bleach was a mistake, it changed the colour to a grey/green which was even worse.

With all the scrubbing, washing and chemicals I managed to end up with a really unpleasant case of Contact Dermatitis. And on top of that my poor nails started flaking and were so brittle that they would break and peel with the slightest pressure.

I’m so glad that the damage has mostly gone, my nails still feel a little weak, but I now have a few millimeters of free edge! Yay!

I’m never ever going to use the gloves that come in the Hair dye kits ever again!

The other dreadful thing that happened (this is much worse) is that my mother is in hospital. She fell and fractured her hip.

She had to have an operation to pin the break back together, during the procedure she lost a lot of blood and was in intensive care for a few days.

It’s been a couple of weeks since the operation and she is doing much better! She’s now been transferred to a hospital closer to home and amazingly she’s even been walking a little! 🙂

I’ll keep this brief otherwise I’ll end up writing pages (and pages) about what’s been happening!

Hopefully now that mum is recovering and everything is less stressful I should hopefully (fingers crossed) be able to start blogging regularly again!

🙂

Tomb!

Hello 🙂

I’ve almost caught up with the 52 week pick and mix challenge! Yay! 😀

Gravestone Nails

Gravestone Nails

From last weeks two prompts I chose to use just the Non US brand of polish.

This is Tomb. Tomb is part of the 2014 Halloween collection from the lovely UK indie brand Tara’s Talons

Tomb

Tomb

Tomb is a Grey Jelly base with loads of mixed pink and purple glitters along with holographic micro glitter!

I absolutely love this polish! It’s all of my favorite polish colours in one bottle! 😀 Look at that holo sparkle! Oh and It looks so squishy!

I couldn’t resist doing a little stamping over this, with a name like Tomb it needed some gravestones!

The image is from Moyou Gothic Collection 04 and for some reason the stamping was not working 😦 this was the third try, and I’d had enough so I just tried to tidy it up a bit with my Barry M Nail Art Pen…

couldn't resist adding the gravestones.

At least they look like gravestones now rather than a dreadful mess lol! 🙂

Stripey Metallic Roses

Hi! 🙂

Metallic stripey rose nail art

Metallic stripey roses

Today I have another 52 week pick and mix (catch up) mani to show you, the prompts for that week (beginning 2nd March) are Metallic and Ikat…

I’m really not a fan of Ikat nails so for this post I’m just using the metallic prompt.

close up!

The two Metallic polishes I used are Artemis (purple) and Aglaia (teal) from the 2true Metallica Collection.

I started off with a coat of Aglaia, then when it was dry I applied the striping tape to my nails (and my desk and the floor and even my keyboard :/)  and added a coat of Artemis.

Removed the tape and applied a coat of Seche Vite.

The stamping plate is Moyou Pro XL 07 and I used Konad Black Stamping Polish.

The roses are my favorite images on this plate! 🙂

Hey everyone! Long time to see! 🙂

Geometric nail art using Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

I have been so busy the past couple of weeks I haven’t had a chance to post anything :/ But more on that later.

Todays post is a catch up mani for the 52 week pick and mix challenge! So here are my Geometric nails! 🙂

Geometric nail art using Illamasqua Velocity, Swarm and Scorn

Tape!

The polishes I used for this are Velocity the pinky lilac shade, Swarm which is the black glitter in clear a base and the black polish is called Scorn. I used tape to mask off the bits of my nail!

I think it would have been a lot quicker to create if I had applied quick drying topcoat between the layers of polish!

The last couple of weeks have been rather busy, I’ve spent most of it covered in mud, compost and seeds, my little home is filled with mud and plants, every surface seems to be covered in pots and germinating seeds…After all the planting my poor hands have been in such a state.

Hopefully everything has calmed down a bit now so I can get back to posting regularly! 😀
