GOT Polish Challenge – Pink!

I have to say that this is the first challenge I have decided to take part in and I’m really looking forward to it!

Many thanks to Debbie over at The Crumpet for organizing it, and all of the lovely people at Crumpet’s Nail tarts Facebook group! 🙂

There’s even a Pinterest board here If you’d like to go see some more of the other lovely nails from the challenge!

Golden Oldie Challenge

THE RULES

  • The polish you use should be at least one year old.
  • If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
  • The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
  • You can use more than 1 polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.

My GOT Pink Nails

Avon Futura Kir Royal

Avon Futura Kir Royal F65

What makes this polish worthy (over all my other pink polishes) to be showcased in the GOT challenge?

This is a shade called ‘Kir Royal’ and it’s from the Avon Futura range, and as far as I know (tho I could be wrong) this polish was made in the late 80’s!

Just look at that packaging!

I applied two coats (over two coats of base coat) and OMG the smell! The fumes! Ugh! I think it even made my sinuses crinkle up, and I ended up sticking my hand out of the window lol.

I dread to think about what chemical nastiness is in this!

Avon Futura Kir Royal F 65

It’s actually a nice colour and it’s incredibly glossy, but applying it was a nightmare! The brush is really stiff and scratchy, it was like trying to paint my nails with a toothbrush! That could just be that the brush is so old it has gone stiff but the bristles where very thick so maybe all old polishes where like that.

I have to admit that this is one of my untried polishes, rather than one I haven’t used for a long time, I do have another one from this range which is the same age that I’m going to be using later on in this challenge! 🙂

Oh if you have any info on this polish or polish range I would love to hear about it! I have done a bit of research but I really can’t find that much about them 🙂

Pink Panda! Stamped Decal Nail Art.

The weather has been so horrid recently, all grey and miserable. So I decided that painting some bright sparkly nails would cheer myself up!  😀

Pink Panda Nail art

Pink Panda Nails ( and yes my hand is upside down)

I don’t think that you could get much more bright and sparkly than this! 😀

I started by making the Pandas using the Stamping Decal technique, using Bundle Monster Plate BM-424. Using Konad special polish black and Sally Hansen-Ivory Skull along with my Color Club topcoat.

While they where drying I applied two coats of Essie-Tour De Finance, followed by one very thin coat of No7- Sparkling Silver, I only have a tiny bit left and this polish was discontinued years ago (cries) but I have found the closest Polish like it, Fairy Dust from China Glaze!

Pink panda and Bamboo Nails

Podgy Panda On My Thumb

I used more of the top coat to stick the Decals to my nails, lucky it’s not a fast drying one, as I had to poke them around a bit to get them into the right place! And then squash them a bit to get an annoying bubble out from underneath :/

The Bamboo image was also on Bundle Monster Plate BM-424 and again I used Konad SP in black.

I still haven’t found a better black stamping polish than the Konad one. I know that Moyou have recently brought out a range of stamping polishes but I haven’t seen any good reviews :/

I finished them all of with another coat of Color Club topcoat. Amazingly it covered up all the little crinkles and fingerprints from my poking and squishing!

After having a play about with the stamping decal technique I really think it’s something I’m going to be doing a lot more of! It’s so much fun and it’s really opened up a whole new dimension to using stamping plates! I might even write a tutorial about it… But I think I need a bit more practice first! 🙂

Foiled Again! Stamped Peacock Feathers.

Foil Peacock

I started this with a base of two coats of Black Magic from Revlon. For the stamping I used a combination, of Cold Metal (blue), Perfect Mol-Ten (green), Hot Like Lava (pink) and Antiquated (gold) all from the foil range from Color Club.

I put a drop of each polish on the image and and poked them all around with my scraper until the stamping image was covered, before removing the excess, I did mess up a couple of times as I wasn’t quick enough transferring the image to my nail. The Color Club Foil polishes dry really fast, I didn’t even have the chance to line up the image :/

This is the first time I have tried stamping with more than two colours! I really like how it turned out 😀 even tho it was a pain to do!

The stamping plate I used is Messy Mansion Birdie plate MM14, which is available here.

Foiled again Peacock

I finished it off with a coat of color club top coat, The top coat is not too bad, it applied nicely and importantly didn’t mess up my stamping and it didn’t shrink…

After writing this I’m starting to think that this top coat might actually be rather good rather than not too bad! Lol.

It’s just I’m so used to using Seche Vite now that any other top coat lacks the thick glassy finish and seems to take for ever to dry! :/ Maybe I should start trying out other brands of topcoat, so is Poshe any good? What about HKgirl? 🙂

Girly Gradient Nail Art With Glitter and Flowers!

Pink and Blue Gradient Nails

I started with a sponged gradient of Sinful colors Paradise which is a light blue creme and Daredevil the bright pink, then one thin coat of Ariel from Chit Chat, which is a blue holo glitter in a clear base.

I used Konad SP in black for the flowers, the stamping plate is Moyou Suki collection 02 Then a coat of color club top coat.

Pink Glitter Zebra Nails Stamp

I had to cut my nails! *CRIES* I had a washing up accident and broke two of them D: Now that I have short nails my fingers feel all weird… I don’t think I like it…

Pink Glittery Zebra Nails

Pink Glittery Zebra Nails

For this I used Heli-yum from China Glaze as the base colour, It is a lovely rich pink cream, I used two coats, I followed that with Make A Spectacle also from China glaze, which is a pretty and very sparkly iridescent hex and micro glitter in a clear base.

The zebra stamp is from Moyou it’s Pro Collection Plate 4. I used konad special polish in black for the stamping.

The topcoat I used was 60 second fast dry topcoat from color club,  I have decided to finish the bottle before I open my next bottle of Seche Vite!

Chit Chat Glitter Nail Polish Swatches

Chit Chat Glitter Polishes

Chit Chat Glitter Polishes

While I was wandering about in town yesterday, I came across these for the bargain price if £1 each! 😀

I used a base of black on black by sinfulcolors so that the glitters show up really clearly 🙂  followed by two coats of the glitter polish

Chit Chat Pink Glitter

Chit Chat Pink Glitter

This pink glitter polish is really pretty, I found this polish a bit tricky to apply, the formula is a little bit thin, but the amount of glitter makes up for that!

Chit Chat Silver Glitter

Chit Chat Silver Glitter

I really don’t know what it is about my camera that makes it hate silver glitter so much… So sorry about the rubbish picture, it was the best one I could get!

There isn’t as much glitter in the formula for this polish as there was in the pink glitter, and it did take a bit of digging about in the bottle to get a good amount of glitter onto the brush. But it is easy to apply, and it definitely has the disco ball look! 🙂

Chit Chat Ariel Blue Holographic Polish

Chit Chat Ariel Blue Holographic Polish

This is a really pretty polish! I really like it over the black.

Chit Chat Violet Glitter

Chit Chat Violet Glitter

out of all four polishes, this one has the most glitter, It is a really pretty blue toned purple, I think this one will be perfect for a glitter gradient over a lighter coloured polish!

Chit Chat Glitter Polish

Chit Chat Glitter Polish

I have found that some glitter polishes tend to dry slightly textured or a bit lumpy and need a lot of top coat! but all of these polishes dry very smooth.  The drying time for the formula is a bit on the slow side, but for the price I paid for these polishes they are amazing value! 😀
