Slightly Steampunk

For this I started with a sponged gradient of Blackened Bleu a black jelly with blue and green glitter from Barielle Shades, Ciao Bella which is the dark blue shimmer with blue glitter and Gorgeous a teal metallic both from Sinful colors.

The stamping plate is BM-401 from Bundle Monster.

I used Konad special stamping polish in black for the image and a coat of Seche Vite

Poke, Snap and Scorn! Purple Dotted Stripe Nails.

Poke, Snap and Scorn from illamasqua

Poke, Snap and Scorn

The nail polishes I used for this are all from Illamasqua poke (purple shimmer) snap (silver) and scorn (black creme). Scorn has a semi matte/rubberized finish that I had completely forgotten about but the coat of Seche Vite made it all really glossy 🙂

Urban Decay Twisted

Yay! my finger has nearly healed! I had a nasty washing up accident and It’s been looking horrible for days :/

I found my bottle of Twisted from Urban Decay while I was tidying up! 😀 And I couldn’t wait to show you all!

Look at the lovely gold sparklyness! I have to say that this is one of the few gold shades that I like, I’m not a big fan of yellow shades, This is more of an antique gold, there’s no metallic yellow here 😀

I was just going to do a quick swatch of this polish but then my Bundle Monster plates arrived! and I couldn’t wait to play with them! I Chose the CYO set, there are so many interesting images, completely different to any other BM collections!

Look! the images are just the right size for my finger nails *happy dance* I’ll do a full review of the set soon! 😀

Wanna Samba? With Messy Mansion MM09!

I have had a crazy few days! I have finally got an Allotment! Yay! 😀 but it’s really overgrown :s I think it’s going to take a huge amount of work to get it to the point where I can start growing stuff and I dread to think about what all that is going to do to my nails! o_O

For my nails today I started with three coats of  Wanna Samba? from Barielle Shades which is a lovely silvery duo-chrome, My photos seem to only show the silver/green tones, so you’ll have to take my word on the pink and purple 🙂

The Black Is konad special polish and the stamping plate I used is Messy Mansion Plate MM09 I finished it off with a thick coat of Seche Vite.

I love how this looks a bit like wrapping paper! 😀

Matte Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Nail Art.

After all the experimenting with crackle polishes I thought I should let my poor fingers have a rest from the polish remover for a couple of days! I have been using loads of Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, and thankfully now I no longer have quite so crispy cuticles 😀

Today I found my e.l.f Matte topcoat! 😀 It was rather dried out and unhappy looking 😦 but with a bit of acetone and a good mix it is back to it’s very non shiny self! 😀

For this I started with a coat of Greige Gardens from Sally Hansen, when the first coat had dried I used the Greige Gardens and Amethyst from Sinfulcolors for the sponged gradient, this took three coats! The Cherry Blossom stamp is from Moyou Suki collection 02 I used Konad special polish for the image, One coat of Seche Vite to seal the image. Then when it had dried I applied my revitalized e.l.f. Matte topcoat.

I had forgotten how scratchy the brush is in the matte topcoat so I ended up using one of my larger nail art brushes to apply it.

I had also forgotten how much I love Matte polish! 😀

Crackle Polish Experiment!

I’m not really the biggest fan of crackle polishes and somehow I have collected 11 bottles of the stuff!

So I decided that I should actually have a play with them rather than leaving them to gather dust! I chose Nina Ultra Pro in French White for the base colour and Black Shatter from OPI.

OPI Black Shatter over Nina Ultra Pro French White

OPI Black Shatter over Nina Ultra Pro French White

This is one coat of shatter polish, The OPI seems a lot more ‘crackly’ than some of my other shatter polishes, it shows more of the base colour, and it dries to be rather textured, this took two coats of top coat to smooth it out!

Braid Brush Strokes

Braid Brush Strokes

With brush strokes in different directions, (like braided nails but with one colour) the crackle effect is more controllable, and gives a much more even effect!

Black crackle sponged gradient.

I was really surprised at actually liking this, 🙂 I think it will look much better in different colours, perhaps silver and black or red with gold crackle polish for something a bit mote festive! But in black and white it looks like lightning!

Half crackle Mani

I taped off half of my nail before applying the shatter polish, The silver stripe is Night Moves from Barielle Shades, it’s just to hide the edge of the crackle polish as it was rather messy! 🙂
