31DC2014 – Day 13 Animal Print

A little bit late, but here are my animal print nails for day 13!

Zebra Print Nails!

Zebra Print Nails!

I have to say that this looks much better in real life! My nails look very washed out in these pictures.

I started with A couple of coats of Shabby Drab from Color Club, Purple toned grey polishes make me very happy! and this one is no exception! 😀

The stamping plate is Pro Collection XL 04 from Moyou. I used some more Shabby Drab along with a couple of drops of Artemis from 2True for the stamped images, It was quite difficult to see what I was doing with the gradient, the 2True polish sunk under the Color Club so I couldn’t tell how much purple I had picked up!

I’m definitely going to try this again, probably with a leopard print, or snake print… Thinking about it I don’t think I have ever used my snakey stamps… I really have to do something about that! 😀

  • Illamasqua – Bapitste
  • China Glaze – Bizarre Blurple
  • Color Club – Secret Agent
  • Barielle – Grape Escape
  • China Glaze – Get Outta My Space
  • Illamasqua – Poke

I used Mauve as the base colour then added the dots with a large dotting tool, starting with the darkest polish, when I got to using Get Outta My Space I switched over to using a medium dotting tool and covered over a few of the gaps 🙂

I started with a base of two coats of Mauve from Sinful colors, then I added the other purple colored polishes with a thin nail art brush.

I really like waterfall nails, it really is such an easy (if a little time consuming) technique 🙂

GOT Polish Challenge – Pastel

GOT Polish Pastel

GOT Polish Pastel

Here are my Pastel nails for today’s GOT Polish Challenge!

GOT Polish Part 2

For this I decided to have a try at water spotted nails and it was surprisingly easy! 😀 The Polishes I used are Lathering Lilac which is another of the free ones (that I haven’t used) from Bizzybee and Pink Flamingo from Barry M

I started with two coats of Lathering Lilac, when that was dry I used Pink flamingo for the water spotting. I have to say it’s a really fun technique, loads easier than water marbling!

Then when that was dry I applied a coat of color club top coat, then a final coat of Matte Finisher from Elf

Fantasy Fire Max Factor Roses

Fantasy Fire Roses

This is my 100th post 😀  Yay!

So today I have a Polish to show you that I keep meaning to get my grubby paws on and haven’t, until yesterday! That polish is Fantasy Fire from Max Factor!

It really is a stunning polish! it’s a mid shade purple gelly with loads of Duo-chrome micro glitter.

Moyou Pro 07

Annoyingly I was having a really hard time with the stamping :/ it just didn’t want to work,  this was my third attempt lol

Anyway, I used:

  • Fantasy Fire – Max Factor
  • Good to Grape – Sally Hansen
  • Black – Konad Special Polish
  • Color Club Topcoat

I started with two coats of Good to Grape, It’s a really nice light purple but it takes ages to dry :/ when it was eventually dry I added two thin coats of fantasy fire. For the roses I used Moyou Pro plate 07 XL

Pastel Galaxy Ruffian Nails! (almost a disaster)

Purple Pastel Galaxy Ruffian Nail Art

I decided to have a try at a pastel pink and purple galaxy mani, I thought it would be nice to try using some “spring time” colours than black lol!

So I sponge my galaxies add my stars and my glitter, tidy up my fingers and add my topcoat. It was quite late so I decided to go to bed and photograph my nails in the morning (hopefully with some sunshine)

The next day (after my second cup of coffee when I was feeling slightly more human) I noticed it…  Epic shrinking, I honestly haven’t seen anything like it! The polish had shrunk round the edge of my nail but not from the free edge oO

The base colour was still exactly where I had applied it and so was the topcoat! The only way I can think of to describe it is like a sandwich without enough filling! I really should have taken a picture!

After staring at it for a while I realized that I could try removing the flappy bits of topcoat and paint round the edges to make a (almost) ruffian mani.

The polishes I used:

  • Barry M – Blueberry.
  • Sally Hansen – Good To Grape.
  • Barielle Shades – Stardust.
  • Barry M – Shocking Pink.
  • Maybelline – Lilac Charm.
  • Seventeen – Pinking Shear.
  • Sinful Colors – Cinderella.
  • Sally Hansen – Lavender Envy.
  • Illamasqua – Baptiste.
  • Barry M – Pink Flamingo.

I started off with a couple of coats of Blueberry, which is a really pretty pale blue cream.

I added a few drops of Good To Grape, Shocking Pink, Lilac Charm, Pinking Shear and Pink Flamingo onto a plastic box lid (they are great for mixing polish)  I then used a small bit of sponge and some tweezers to dab the polish into my nails.

When that was dry I did the same with Cinderella and Lavender Envy, I applied three iridescent stars to each nail and painted on a little bit of stardust, when it was dry I applied Color Club topcoat.

Then the shrinky doom happened!

I used a nail art brush and pure acetone to remove the flappy edges of the nail polish, Then using a very tiny brush I used Baptiste to fill the gap! Cleaned up my cuticles and the rescue was complete!

I think I managed to rescue this reasonably well! I’m just wondering, has anything like this shrinking ever happened to your nails?
