Halloween Monster Eyes and Some Candlewick Greens Waxy Goodness!

Hello! 🙂

Halloween Monster Eyes

Sorry about the lack of posts last week, I managed to cut my finger :/ don’t worry, it’s on my dominant hand so there won’t be any gory pictures! And I’ve also have a cold (ugh, stoopid germs).

But now that I have dragged myself out of my sofa cocoon and polish remover isn’t really painful to use. I can share with you a two part post starting with these Monster Eyes! 🙂

For my monster eye nails I used

  • Revlon – Stiletto
  • Illamasqua – poke
  • Sally Hansen – Blue Streak
  • Barry M – Crystal Glaze
  • Seche Vite
  • Illamasqua – Matte Top Coat

Thinking about it I didn’t really think through the steps for making the eyes. So I think they do look a little messy round the edges.

The gradient is Poke and Blue Streak with a coat of Crystal Glaze over the top, then with a thin brush I added the eye shape using Stiletto.

In hindsight I should have used tape or something to mask off the eyes, It would have made the edges of the matte topcoat look a lot cleaner.

candlewick green sandalwood vanilla wax melt

A quick question… Have you seen a nail polish that looks like the picture above? If you have please let me know, as I want something like this on my nails right now 🙂

As I’m sure you can tell the photograph isn’t nail polish, its wax! Which brings me on to the second part of my post!

I want to show you some wax melts from a really lovely little company here in the UK. It’s not often that I come across wax melts that I’m really impressed with, but these honestly are amazing! Before I carry on I should let you know that I purchased these myself!

I have pet rats, at the moment I have 8 of the whiskery critters in my living room, and like any pets they can get really rather stinky, so I do end up looking for lovely room fragrances quite often.

These wax melts are so loaded with fragrance that one quarter of a pot is enough to scent the whole of my apartment all day!

If my nostrils could sing with happiness they would be, and not in a creepy old man nose whistle way!

The Candlewick Greens Shop is right here if you would like to have a look 🙂  http://www.candlewick-greens.appspot.com/index.html

candlewick green wax tart melt autumn wreath

Autumn Wreath is the melt I have in my warmer right now, it’s so nice, slightly spiced apples and crunchy leaves!

There is a facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/740123009371304/?fref=ts

it’s the best place to fins out about the restocks and upcoming new scents 😀

candlewick green wax melt tart gingerbread latte

Gingerbread Latte smells just like the drink, I have found that some coffee/creamy scented candles and melts (from a well known brand that happens to start with the letter Y) have this nasty chemical plastic smell. But not these, they smell heavenly!

Another wonderful thing about these wax melts is that most of them are covered in glitter and shimmers! Yay for glitter 😀

The best way to order these lovely melts is through the ready to ship page. http://www.candlewick-greens.appspot.com/readytoship.html

candlewick green wax melt sticky toffee pumpkin waffle

Sticky Toffee Pumpkin Waffle smells so amazing I want to eat it! But I’m sure it wouldn’t taste nearly as good lol!

Out of all the different scent collections on offer at candlewick Greens I have to say my favorite is the Mystical ones!

But I have found one little problem with the bakery scents… Being surrounded by wonderful cake smells makes me really hungry! 😀

Oh if you do make an order for some of this lovely wax (you really won’t be disappointed) if you could leave a note with your order about finding out about them here that would be amazing! 😀

Gruesome Green Gradient

Hallo! 🙂

halloween green gradient

I really wasn’t feeling like doing anything to complicated with my nails today, so I decided on this black and bright green gradient.

Thinking about it this would look great as part of a Spooky Witch costume! 😀

The three polishes I used are all from Illamasqua! the Bright green is called Nurture, Scorn is the black polish, and the matte black glitter topper is Swarm!

I have to say I’m still not the biggest fan of Green Polish, but as a Halloween mani this is quite fun 🙂

Bloody Bats!

Hello! 🙂

Bloody Bats Halloween Nail Art

Today my Halloween mani is Bloody Bats lol and it’s a combination of water spotting and stamping!

Bloody Bats Halloween Nail Art

I used Ivory Skull from Sally Hansen for the white base, the red is Red-ical Gypsy from Color Club, the bat image is from Moyou Gothic 04 and I used Hit the Bottle in Black, then a coat of Seche Vite and it was all done!

Well after cleaning up it was all done, I don’t know what it is about Red-ical Gypsy, but it really likes to stick to your skin! Getting rid of it took nearly half an hour!

Purple Gradient with Bridal Nail BN05

Hello! 🙂

Purple and Black Gradient With BN05

Today I have this purple gradient to show you! This mani is from a few months ago, but I think it’s too pretty not to share 🙂

The image is from the Bridal Nail 05 stamping plate from Messy Mansion

The Bridal Nail images are not as wide as the MM (round plates) full nail designs these are 17mm x 23mm while the Bridal Nail Full Nail images are 14mm x 24mm. I found that they are a really nice size to work with!

In no particular order I used

  • ILNP – My Private Rainbow
  • Hit The Bottle – Black
  • NYC – Evil
  • Sally Hansen – Grape Race
  • OPI – I Carol About You
  • Bridal Nail Stamping Plate 05
  • Seche Vite

I started with Grape Race over my usual topcoat then using Evil (I really dislike the name of this polish), I Carol About You and Grape Race, for the gradient.  It only took a couple of layers and dried really quickly.  Then a thin coat of My Private Rainbow and a layer of Seche Vite.

Then the stampy goodness using Hit The Bottle Black and BN05, another coat of Seche Vite, a bit of a clean up and it was all done!

Misty Graveyard Halloween Nail Art

Hello! 🙂

Misty Graveyard Nail Art

Today I have a Misty Halloween Graveyard to show you! Even though this took ages I am so pleased with this!

Misty Graveyard Nail Art

The Idea for this mani has been lurking around in by brain for a while, I just haven’t had the time to sit down and do it. But I suppose this is a good thing to come out of the last couple of nights of insomnia.

Misty Graveyard Nail Art

Close up I think it looks a little bit like snow!

After a bit of experimenting with polishes I ended up with just the right combination of sheerness and glitter to be able to build up the misty look on the nail without loosing to much detail.

To make my franken jelly polish I used

  • Clear nail polish
  • Illamasqua – Raindrops
  • ILNP – My Private Rainbow

In a little 5ml polish bottle I mixed a one quarter raindrops to three quarters of clear polish, then as an after thought I added three drops of my private rainbow.

Misty Graveyard Nail Art

I started out with my usual base coat and then a layer of Raindrops, when that was dry I added the first stamped gravestones on the top half of my nail, then a layer of topcoat, and a coat of the franken polish.  I had to apply the extra layers of topcoat because the franken polish mix dissolved the stamping polish.

Then the next layer of stamping slightly further down the nail, and then repeating the layers of polish.

Then the last lot of stamping I added a little black polish between the last gravestones then a final coat of topcoat.

In total this mani took nine coats of polish (not counting the stamping).  Surprisingly it didn’t feel really thick.

I really like this technique, and I’m definitely going to be trying this again, even if it does take absolutely ages 😀
