Pick and Mix Challenge

Hello! 🙂

Pick and Mix Brown and Book

Pick and Mix Brown and Book

The prompts for this weeks pick and mix challenge mani are Brown And Book. I really had a hard time thinking of something to combine the prompts!

I decided on trying illuminated manuscript (it’s close enough to a book)!

An illuminated manuscript is a parchment or book where the page is decorated with silver, gold and other dyes.

If your interested here’s the wikipedia page on illuminated Manuscripts. 🙂

Patchwork Skin Halloween Nails

Hello! 🙂

Patchwork Flesh Halloween Nails

Patchwork Flesh Halloween Nails

Today I have some Halloween nails inspired by the… Ummm… Sewing skills of Ed Gein and the fictional Buffalo Bill from Silence Of The Lambs.

Halloween Skin Suit Nails

Skin Suit Nails

  • Butter London – Yummy Mummy
  • O.P.I – Tickle My France-y
  • Ciate – Pocket Money
  • Color Club – Nomadic In Nude
  • Revlon – Emerald City
  • Sinful Colors – Inkwell
  • Color Club – Earthy Angel
  • Barry M – Nail Art Pen Black
  • E.L.F – Matte Finisher
  • Seche Vite

I started out with a couple of coats of Tickle My France-y, then I added the patches of the other nude colours. When it was dry I used the nail art pen to add the stitches then applied a coat of Seche Vite.

Then with a tiny piece of sponge I added a mixture of Inkwell and Emerald City mixed with topcoat over the stitches to give it a bit more of a ‘dried out skin’ look!

Matte Damask Nails!

Hello 🙂

Matte Damask Nail art

Matte Damask Nails

I received my order of a few stamping plates from Born Pretty a couple of days ago and I couldn’t wait to try them out!

My package arrived a lot faster than I was expecting, I ordered four stamping plates, some french tip guides and some random water decals.

The plate I used today is QA90 and you can find it here.

Pelican Gray, Diamond Lurex, matte top coat

Pelican Gray, Diamond Lurex, matte top coat

I used Pelican Grey from China Glaze as the base colour, then added a coat of Diamond Lurex form L’oreal.

For the stamp I used Konad SP Black and my marshmallow stamper.  I followed that with a coat of Seche Vite, and then a coat of E.L.F matte finisher.

I think I have lost any ability I had (if I had any at all lol) to get the images lined up and even across all my nails… I guess I just need more practice! 😀

I do love sparkly matte nails! 😀

GOT Polish Challenge – Pastel

GOT Polish Pastel

GOT Polish Pastel

Here are my Pastel nails for today’s GOT Polish Challenge!

GOT Polish Part 2

For this I decided to have a try at water spotted nails and it was surprisingly easy! 😀 The Polishes I used are Lathering Lilac which is another of the free ones (that I haven’t used) from Bizzybee and Pink Flamingo from Barry M

I started with two coats of Lathering Lilac, when that was dry I used Pink flamingo for the water spotting. I have to say it’s a really fun technique, loads easier than water marbling!

Then when that was dry I applied a coat of color club top coat, then a final coat of Matte Finisher from Elf

Got Polish Challenge -Skittle! Matte Black and White.

For the GOT Polish Challenge this week I have this black and white matte skittle to show you 🙂

But first here’s a quick recap of the rules!

THE RULES

  • The polish you use should be at least one year old.
  • If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
  • The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
  • You can use more than one polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.

I used three polishes for this, (four if you count the matte topcoat) White On White from China Glaze, Barry M Black and Konad SP in Black.

My camera decided that it hated these nails so there’s only one picture today :/

Black and White Matte Skittle

Black and White Matte Skittle

I started off by painting my thumb, index and ring fingers with two coats of the White polish, and my middle and little finger with two coats of the Black

Starting with my thumb, the stamp I chose is from plate MM09 from Messy Mansion, then I applied a coat of my usual topcoat and waited for it to dry.

I used a makeup sponge for the gradient on my index finger, it took two coats before I was happy with the amount of black.

My middle finger was easy, I just applied the white polish with a medium sized dotting tool.

The water marble on my ring finger was a bit of a pain, the black polish was a bit too thick to spread on the water, so I ended up using  a little dish to thin some of the polish with a little acetone, I used a striping brush to add drops of it to the water. I’m really happy with how it turned out! all those different shades of grey!  My water marble was going so well, until an annoying little bubble that I didn’t notice before I added my topcoat and I ended up dragging some polish across the design. Grr!

I changed my mind on what I was going to do on my little finger. Originally I was going to do something with striping tape but after doing all my other nails I really didn’t feel like doing anything complicated so I just taped over the end of my nail and applied white over the black, I should probably have just removed the black polish and started again but for some reason, I didn’t think of it at the time lol. It took three coats to cover the black, and the edge is a bit fuzzy. but I think it turned out ok! 🙂

Then I decided that it needed some nail studs so I stuck them on with some more topcoat, when it was dry I applied a coat of Matte. And it was all finished!

Anti Valentines Nail Art!

Today I have some very Anti Valentine’s day nails to show you!

Anti Valentines Day Nails

Anti Valentines Day Nails

I don’t think I could have made this any less valentine’sy!

I started out with two coats of Pumice From Sally Hansen, then using a make up sponge I applied patches of Pure Midnight which is also a Sally Hansen Polish.

Then I used a combination of cling film and tiny bits of sponge to add Barry M Grey, China Glaze Galactic Grey and Color Club Shabby Drab to create the stone effect.

I used two Bundle Monster Plates BM-426 and BM-413 for the stamping, I used Konad Special Polish in Black, then with a thin brush I added some Lumin-iceant from Color Club to the letters.

I also used Lumin-iceant for the stamping on my thumb, unfortunately it doesn’t show as well as I would like 😦

I finished it off with a coat of Seche Vite, but then decided it would look better in matte so I added a coat of Matte Finisher from E.L.F!

I think that’s enough hate nails from me! And I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s day what ever you are doing! 🙂
