Sparkly Blue Water Marble!

I actually had some time to do some nail art! Yay! 😀 So here is a very sparkly water marble!

Sparkly Blue Water Marble

The polishes I used are

  • White on White – China Glaze
  • Tempest – China Glaze
  • Thinking Of Blue – Sally Hansen
  • Dive Deeper – Sally Hansen
  • Sparkling Silver – No7
  • Topcoat – Color Club

I started with a coat of White on White, when that was dry I taped my fingers and started on the water marble. I started with two drops of Thinking of Blue, Tempest then Dive Deeper, followed by two rounds of one drop of each polish in the same order (if that makes any sense)

I created the petal pattern by dragging the polish out from the center with a tooth pick, and then back from the outside to the center between the petals.

After I dipped my nails, waited a bit for them to dry and cleaned round my cuticles I added a coat of Sparkling silver then I finished it off with my top coat!

I really do like how my middle finger turned out! 😀

GOT Polish Challenge – Ruffles

Woohoo! I actually managed to get this post done in time! 😀 So here are my ruffle nails for the GOT Polish Challenge!

Here is a quick recap of the rules:

  • The polish you use should be at least one year old.
  • If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
  • The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
  • You can use more than one polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.

For my ruffled nails I used Azure from Rimmel (untried as far as I can remember) and White On White from China Glaze (which I have had for ages)

This was my second attempt at a ruffle mani, the first time I tried this technique I ruffled my whole nail, and OMG it made my nails look so wide oO it was like my fingernails had been replaced with toenails D: I have wide nails anyway and I can’t stand anything that makes them look even wider!

So for my second try I decided on a french tip, I think this looks quite nice, like clouds or waves 🙂

To do a ruffle mani it is actually really quite simple, just slightly overlapping rows of dots. Just make sure the previous row of dots is dry! I used a medium sized dotting tool!

As my camera was being nice to me today here is a close up! 😀

Nail Polish From Japan – Beauty World Dot Artist Set

Hi! Today I have another nail polish from Japan to show you 🙂

This is a Dot Artist set From Beauty World It has three 5ml polishes A bright pink cream, a pale pink almost nude shade and a black cream. The set also contains a small and large dotting tool.

How cute is that packaging! 😀 Because I don’t think I’ll be able to get another one of these sets I decided on a Skittle mani rather than swatching each of the polishes.

The black polish is very nice! it is opaque in one coat, it applied really easily and dotted over both the pink shades really well!

I found that the pale pink is nowhere near as well pigmented, it took four coats to be opaque, it looks nice over the bright pink but it didn’t do so well over the black, it looks grey and washed out which is a shame.

The bright pink is opaque in two coats and dotted really well over both of the other colours.

I found that these polishes have a quite a strong chemical smell but they dried really quickly! I think this is a really fun little set 🙂

I was originally going to post this on the 14th but I have just not had the time :/ and when I have had a little time I’ve been far to tired to do anything.

I have been really busy sorting out my allotment! I am so glad that we have finally got the paperwork! My lovely OH took some time off from work and has spent the last two weeks weeding and digging, (in between playing computer games) I have been weeding, starting seeds, and planting stuff, mostly flowers and early crops so far, The down side of it is my flat is filled with soil and seed trays… So much mess! Ugh! And my hands are really dry… It seems that no amount of hand cream/cuticle balm is helping :/ I have had two horrid nail breaks on my right hand (index and middle fingers) but luckily my left hand nails are still happy!

I like to make sure I have had a couple of evenings during the week where I can sit down, paint my nails and write my posts, over the past couple of weeks there’s been “stuff” happening on there days one of these was my upstairs neighbor (top floor) accidentally dropped a brick from their balcony. They where using it as a door stop, it made a lot of noise and a fair amount of damage on my patio when it landed!  Damaged palm tree, broken pots and a broken bracket on my fence oO I’m so glad that I wasn’t outside at the time!

The other thing that happened was much nicer! We had a little kitty visitor for the night! very cute black and dark brown stripy cat with bright yellow eyes, He was a lost house cat who was crying outside our front door! The poor little guy was very scared of the outside world so we decided to let him in until we found his family. Gave him some food, water and a box and he seemed to be quite happy! My OH managed to find out where the cat lives and left a message (the cat hadn’t come from to far away) His owner came to collect him really early in the morning! In the afternoon the cats owner came back with a bottle of wine and thanked us again for finding and looking after the kitty.  🙂

Got Polish Challenge – Purple!

Hallo again! 🙂 Here are my Purple nails for this weeks GOT Polish Challenge 🙂 Sorry about the lack of posts last week I have had a really crazy week! I’ll tell you about it in my my post tomorrow 🙂

Purple Zebra Gradient

Purple Zebra Gradient

For my purple nails I started with a coat of White on White from China Glaze, then I used Baptiste and Poke from Illamasqua and a little bit more White On White for the sponged gradient.

For the Zebra stripe stamp I used some more Baptiste and Moyou Pro plate 04XL.

Look at that sneaky bit of glitter on my middle finger… Grrr! It must have hitched a ride on the sponge, I didn’t notice it until I was cropping the photos!

Got Polish Challenge -Skittle! Matte Black and White.

For the GOT Polish Challenge this week I have this black and white matte skittle to show you 🙂

But first here’s a quick recap of the rules!

THE RULES

  • The polish you use should be at least one year old.
  • If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
  • The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
  • You can use more than one polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.

I used three polishes for this, (four if you count the matte topcoat) White On White from China Glaze, Barry M Black and Konad SP in Black.

My camera decided that it hated these nails so there’s only one picture today :/

Black and White Matte Skittle

Black and White Matte Skittle

I started off by painting my thumb, index and ring fingers with two coats of the White polish, and my middle and little finger with two coats of the Black

Starting with my thumb, the stamp I chose is from plate MM09 from Messy Mansion, then I applied a coat of my usual topcoat and waited for it to dry.

I used a makeup sponge for the gradient on my index finger, it took two coats before I was happy with the amount of black.

My middle finger was easy, I just applied the white polish with a medium sized dotting tool.

The water marble on my ring finger was a bit of a pain, the black polish was a bit too thick to spread on the water, so I ended up using  a little dish to thin some of the polish with a little acetone, I used a striping brush to add drops of it to the water. I’m really happy with how it turned out! all those different shades of grey!  My water marble was going so well, until an annoying little bubble that I didn’t notice before I added my topcoat and I ended up dragging some polish across the design. Grr!

I changed my mind on what I was going to do on my little finger. Originally I was going to do something with striping tape but after doing all my other nails I really didn’t feel like doing anything complicated so I just taped over the end of my nail and applied white over the black, I should probably have just removed the black polish and started again but for some reason, I didn’t think of it at the time lol. It took three coats to cover the black, and the edge is a bit fuzzy. but I think it turned out ok! 🙂

Then I decided that it needed some nail studs so I stuck them on with some more topcoat, when it was dry I applied a coat of Matte. And it was all finished!

Blue Jelly Sandwich! Using My First Franken Polish!

I made my first franken polish! 😀

I had a clear mini polish ( I think it was a top coat) from a cheap glitter set I picked up, and I knew that I was never going to use it so instead of leaving at the back of a draw, forgotten and covered in dust I decided to mix it with some other polishes to make something I would (hopefully) like and use!

Blue Jelly Sandwich

Blue Jelly Sandwich

I emptied the mini clear polish into a larger nail polish bottle then I added around eight drops of Propaganda from Illamasqua, I really love the dark blue colour of Propaganda, it’s so intensely pigmented that eight drops was enough for the blue colour.

I wanted my blue jelly to have a bit of shimmer so I mixed in some Mikado from Astor, this is a teal/green duo-chrome (ish) colour. I have swatched this polish once and it’s not as nice on as it looks in the bottle, so i’m glad that I got to use it for something. I must have added around twenty drops of it before I was happy with it.

Then I added four/five drops of Strap On Your Moon Boots from China Glaze, as you can’t go wrong with a bit of holo sparkle!

My First Franken Polish

My First Franken Polish

For the stamp I used Ivory Skull from Sally Hansen and Moyou Suki collection plate 02 I used three coats of my franken jelly polish with a stamp between each layer!

I’m rubbish at naming things so… What do you think I should I call my new polish?
