31DC2014 Day 21 Inspired By A Colour – Blue

inspired by not seeing any blue sky for a while

Inspired by a colour…

For this I chose a colour I haven’t seen for a while, Sky blue! It has been really wet and cloudy where I live, not very spring like at all!

My first choice for this was going to be purple, I put all of my purple polishes onto my desk (I have a lot more of them than I thought!) and I looked at them, and nothing! not a drop of inspiration! Went and had a cup of tea, glared at the pile of purple polish from the sofa, I’m usually ok at choosing a polish and working what it will look nice with or what kind of pattern it would suit, but clearly not today! :/

I decided to have a break and pottered off to do some gardening, while I was grubbing about in a pot of lilies, I was thinking how nice it would be to have some blue sky!

For my sky blue nails I used

  • 17 – Heart Beat
  • Barry M – Blueberry Ice Cream
  • Sinful Colors – Paradise
  • China Glaze – White on White
  • Konad SP – Black
  • Messy Mansion – MM14
  • Seche Vite

This really was very easy, I used the three pale blues for the very subtle gradient, the clouds I used a large dotting tool, and then stamped the birds over the top!

It’s not purple but I really like it! 🙂

31DC2014 – Half Moon Nails

31DC2014 Half Moon Nail Art

Half Moon Nails

Here are my half moon nails for day 18!

For this I used

  • Black Magic from Revlon
  • Aglaia from 2True
  • Konad SP in Black
  • Pure Midnight From Sally Hansen
  • Seche Vite

Starting with a couple of coats of black magic, I stamped the bottom half of my nail, with Agiaia, I used Moyou Pro plate 05 which is a standard size plate from them, it’s way too narrow and short for me to use as a full nail, but it’s fine to use sideways for half a nail lol!

Then I applied a thin coat of Seche Vite, when that was dry I used ring binder hole reinforcements to mask off the half moons, then sponged on some more Black Magic and removed the sticky rings.

Then for the tips of my nails I sponged on more Aglaia and some Pure midnight, I was going for a gradient but it didn’t really work very well :/

Then I applied another coat of Seche, waited for it to dry then stamped using the same image, but with Konad SP Black and then a final coat of SV.

With all of the topcoat I used for this I’m honestly surprised that it didn’t shrink a lot more!

31DC2014 Day 8 Metallic

31dc2014 day 8 metallic nails

Stamped metallic gradient

Here are my metallic nails for day 8!

For this I used Dazzle from Orly, Black Magic from Revlon and Konad SP black.

I started with a couple of coats of Dazzle, then I created the gradient using Black Magic and a make up sponge.

The using some more Dazzle and konad SP in black I stamped the image over the gradient!

I finished it off with a coat of color club topcoat!

This didn’t turn out quite as crisp as I was hoping, but it’s nice enough! 🙂

31DC2014 Day 2 Orange Nails!

Orange with bats

Orange with bats

For my Orange nails I have a Halloween mani to show you 🙂

I really couldn’t work out what to do for my nails today. I don’t like orange nail polish, I don’t hate it, I just don’t like it. I feel the same way about yellow nail polish, I don’t like that either.

As I don’t actually own any “orange” nail polish, I decided to use the same polishes from my GOT polish challenge orange water marble mani, you can find that Here.

I started with a couple of coats of East Austin from Color Club, then using the cling film technique I applied Roguish Red from China Glaze. to make the orange coloured background.

For the bats I used Konad SP in black with plate 10 from the Moyou Suki collection.

I finished it off with Color Club topcoat, there is a little bit of shrinking but it’s not too bad. 🙂

Got Polish Challenge -Skittle! Matte Black and White.

For the GOT Polish Challenge this week I have this black and white matte skittle to show you 🙂

But first here’s a quick recap of the rules!

THE RULES

  • The polish you use should be at least one year old.
  • If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
  • The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
  • You can use more than one polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.

I used three polishes for this, (four if you count the matte topcoat) White On White from China Glaze, Barry M Black and Konad SP in Black.

My camera decided that it hated these nails so there’s only one picture today :/

Black and White Matte Skittle

Black and White Matte Skittle

I started off by painting my thumb, index and ring fingers with two coats of the White polish, and my middle and little finger with two coats of the Black

Starting with my thumb, the stamp I chose is from plate MM09 from Messy Mansion, then I applied a coat of my usual topcoat and waited for it to dry.

I used a makeup sponge for the gradient on my index finger, it took two coats before I was happy with the amount of black.

My middle finger was easy, I just applied the white polish with a medium sized dotting tool.

The water marble on my ring finger was a bit of a pain, the black polish was a bit too thick to spread on the water, so I ended up using  a little dish to thin some of the polish with a little acetone, I used a striping brush to add drops of it to the water. I’m really happy with how it turned out! all those different shades of grey!  My water marble was going so well, until an annoying little bubble that I didn’t notice before I added my topcoat and I ended up dragging some polish across the design. Grr!

I changed my mind on what I was going to do on my little finger. Originally I was going to do something with striping tape but after doing all my other nails I really didn’t feel like doing anything complicated so I just taped over the end of my nail and applied white over the black, I should probably have just removed the black polish and started again but for some reason, I didn’t think of it at the time lol. It took three coats to cover the black, and the edge is a bit fuzzy. but I think it turned out ok! 🙂

Then I decided that it needed some nail studs so I stuck them on with some more topcoat, when it was dry I applied a coat of Matte. And it was all finished!
