Got Polish Challenge – Purple!

Hallo again! ๐Ÿ™‚ Here are my Purple nails for this weeks GOT Polish Challenge ๐Ÿ™‚ Sorry about the lack of posts last week I have had a really crazy week! I’ll tell you about it in my my post tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

Purple Zebra Gradient

Purple Zebra Gradient

For my purple nails I started with a coat of White on White from China Glaze, then I used Baptiste and Poke from Illamasqua and a little bit more White On White for the sponged gradient.

For the Zebra stripe stamp I used some more Baptiste and Moyou Pro plate 04XL.

Look at that sneaky bit of glitter on my middle finger… Grrr! It must have hitched a ride on the sponge, I didn’t notice it until I was cropping the photos!

Got Polish Challenge -Skittle! Matte Black and White.

For the GOT Polish Challenge this week I have this black and white matte skittle to show you ๐Ÿ™‚

But first here’s a quick recap of the rules!

THE RULES

  • The polish you use should be at least one year old.
  • If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
  • The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
  • You can use more than one polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.

I used three polishes for this, (four if you count the matte topcoat) White On White from China Glaze, Barry M Black and Konad SP in Black.

My camera decided that it hated these nails so there’s only one picture today :/

Black and White Matte Skittle

I started off by painting my thumb, index and ring fingers with two coats of the White polish, and my middle and little finger with two coats of the Black

Starting with my thumb, the stamp I chose is from plate MM09 from Messy Mansion, then I applied a coat of my usual topcoat and waited for it to dry.

I used a makeup sponge for the gradient on my index finger, it took two coats before I was happy with the amount of black.

My middle finger was easy, I just applied the white polish with a medium sized dotting tool.

The water marble on my ring finger was a bit of a pain, the black polish was a bit too thick to spread on the water, so I ended up usingย  a little dish to thin some of the polish with a little acetone, I used a striping brush to add drops of it to the water. I’m really happy with how it turned out! all those different shades of grey!ย  My water marble was going so well, until an annoying little bubble that I didn’t notice before I added my topcoat and I ended up dragging some polish across the design. Grr!

I changed my mind on what I was going to do on my little finger. Originally I was going to do something with striping tape but after doing all my other nails I really didn’t feel like doing anything complicated so I just taped over the end of my nail and applied white over the black, I should probably have just removed the black polish and started again but for some reason, I didn’t think of it at the time lol. It took three coats to cover the black, and the edge is a bit fuzzy. but I think it turned out ok! ๐Ÿ™‚

Then I decided that it needed some nail studs so I stuck them on with some more topcoat, when it was dry I applied a coat of Matte. And it was all finished!

Blue Jelly Sandwich! Using My First Franken Polish!

I made my first franken polish! ๐Ÿ˜€

I had a clear mini polish ( I think it was a top coat) from a cheap glitter set I picked up, and I knew that I was never going to use it so instead of leaving at the back of a draw, forgotten and covered in dust I decided to mix it with some other polishes to make something I would (hopefully) like and use!

Blue Jelly Sandwich

Blue Jelly Sandwich

I emptied the mini clear polish into a larger nail polish bottle then I added around eight drops of Propaganda from Illamasqua, I really love the dark blue colour of Propaganda, it’s so intensely pigmented that eight drops was enough for the blue colour.

I wanted my blue jelly to have a bit of shimmer so I mixed in some Mikado from Astor, this is a teal/green duo-chrome (ish) colour. I have swatched this polish once and it’s not as nice on as it looks in the bottle, so i’m glad that I got to use it for something. I must have added around twenty drops of it before I was happy with it.

Then I added four/five drops of Strap On Your Moon Boots from China Glaze, as you can’t go wrong with a bit of holo sparkle!

My First Franken Polish

My First Franken Polish

For the stamp I used Ivory Skull from Sally Hansen and Moyou Suki collection plate 02 I used three coats of my franken jelly polish with a stamp between each layer!

I’m rubbish at naming things so… What do you think I should I call my new polish?

2True Metallica Collection Swatches!

Today I have all 5 of the 2True Metallica collection polishes all swatched and ready to show you!

2True Metallica Collection

2True Metallica Collection

The green is called Arete, the teal is Aglaia, the purple is called Artemis, Athena is the blue, and the pink is called Aphrodite! I have to say that I’m really liking the names of these polishes ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m going to be using these as stamping polishes but I thought I should give them a quick swatch just to see how they look. The collection all have a pretty satin finish, so if you want a glossy polish these probably won’t be for you! I really like the slightly matte-ness of these polishes, But then I’m really liking matte at the moment!

2True Athena Metallica Collection

2True Athena Metallica Collection .

Athena is the Ancient Greek goddess of wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilization, law and justice, just warfare, mathematics, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, and skill.

This polish is a really nice cool powdery silver blue, I applied two coats over base coat. I really like how frosty this polish looks.

2True Athena Metallica Collection

2True Athena

I did find that there was some dragging and bunching on the second coat, this was the same with all the colours. I found that applying the second coat quite thickly minimized the bunching!

2true Artemis Metallica Collection

2true Artemis Metallica Collection

Artemis, the goddess of the hunt, wild animals, Wilderness, Childbirth and protector of young girls, she often was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows.

I have already posted about how amazing this polish is for stamping if you would like to have a look you can find that right here.

Artemis is such a pretty lilac colour! I used two coats over base coat!

2true Artemis Metallica Collection

I found the brush strokes impossible to get rid of! But applying an extra coat with a sponge will get rid of them! I Thought about doing this for all of the polishes but I realized that would be a bit like cheating as I want you to see the polishes as they are!

2True Arete Metallica Collection

2True Arete Metallica Collection

Arete The Ancient greek Goddess of Virtue, Wisdom and Excellence.

It’s green, it’s green and I like it… I normally don’t like green polishes at all but this one seems to be an exception oO. Arete is a pretty pearly spring green, I like this because the metallic silvery tones make this green not overly yellow.

I again used two coats over base coat for this swatch, these polishes do have quite a strong chemical smell, but it doesn’t hang around as long as some other polishes.

2True Arete Metallica Collection

2True Arete

I noticed that all of these polishes show up every little ridge and dimple on my nails :/ I use a ridge filling basecoat (it’s a really cheap one) so maybe an extra layer of basecoat would help? or more buffing!

2True Aphrodite Metallica Collection

2True Aphrodite Metallica Collection

Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of Love, beauty, pleasure and procreation.

Aphrodite is a pretty rosey pink, in the bottle it has a slightly coral hue but that doesn’t show up when it’s on, this really isn’t a colour that I would usually choose, but I’m glad that I did get it because it’s really rather pretty.

I used two coats over basecoat with the thicker second coat to avoid the dreaded bunching.

I’m really interested to see how this pink polish looks stamped over black!

This rather lovely pale teal is called Aglaia.

2True Aglaia Metallica Collection

2True Aglaia Metallica Collection

Aglaea was the goddess of beauty, splendor, glory, magnificence and adornment.

I think this is a really stunning colour! I would wear this on it’s own. I really like the paleness of this shade I think if the colour was more intense it would detract from the metallic sheen.

I used two coats over base coat

2True Aglaia Metallica Collection

2True Aglaia

To sum up these polishes, the bad bits first, they show up imperfections on your nails, they are a bit stinky, and they tend to bunch up and drag during application.

And the good stuff. The colours are all really pretty, the lovely satin finish, they dry very fast and you only need two coats (or one if you are careful) Oh yeah, and they are amazing for stamping! ๐Ÿ˜€

When I get a bit of time I’ll show you these polishes stamped over black and white polish! ๐Ÿ™‚

Nail Polish From Japan – Canmake Colorful Nails, Denim!

Hi, Today I have another one of my lovely Japanese nail polishes to show you! This polish is from Canmake Colorful Nails, it’s shade 57 Denim!

Here is the English language version of the Canmake website.

Can Make Colorful Nails Denim

It’s a lovely dark blue with silver micro glitter and silver shimmer, Denim has a satin finish which is really pretty!

Can Make Colorful Nails Denim Bottle

The bottle is so cute! I did find the brush was a little shorter than I’m used to but it didn’t effect the application at all.

The formula for this polish is amazing! it’s definitely wearable with one coat, I applied two because I have drunk way to much coffee and the first coat didn’t turn out to well lol!

This polish is so pretty! I would love to find something like it easily available in the UK!

Pink Spotty Nails!

While I was going through my nail art box I found my dotting tools and realized that I haven’t used them for ages, so today I have pink spotty nails to show you! ๐Ÿ™‚

Color Club Hot like Lava With Orly Liquid Vinyl dots.

Color Club Hot like Lava With Orly Liquid Vinyl dots.

I started with two coats of Hot Like Lava from Color Club, it’s such a bright metallic pink! The weather it horrid today all grey and raining so I wanted something bright ๐Ÿ™‚

Hot like Lava applied really smoothly and it dries really quickly, the only problem I found with it is the visible brush strokes but the dots cover those ๐Ÿ™‚

I used a medium sized dotting tool and Liquid Vinyl from Orly, I used this one because it takes a bit longer to dry than my other black polishes so I had a bit longer to play before it went all thick and stringy!

Dotty Nails

Unfortunately this really suffered from the dreaded Seche Vite shrinkage :/ but it’s cute and spotty so I don’t mind too much!
