31DC2014 Day 29 – Inspired by The Supernatural

Hallo!

Here are my nails for day 29! Inspired by the supernatural. Or maybe things that go bump in the night!

The polishes I used are

  • Seche – Nouveau
  • Chanel – Dragon
  • Sally Hansen – Ion
  • Butter London – Frilly Knickers
  • Filthy Gorgeous – Twilight
  • Konad – SP Black
  • Sally Hansen – Greige Gardens

I also used stamping plates HD01 for the tree, HD03 for the gravestones and HD04 for the spider web.

I started out with a sponged gradient ofย  Greige Gardens and Ion, then with a tiny bit of sponge I added a small amount of Nouveau from Seche around the bottom edge of my nail.

When that was all dry I applied a coat of frilly knickers then a coat of Seche Vite.

After adding the stamps I used a thin brush to paint on the grass and added another coat of Seche Vite

For the spooky eyes I used my trusty dotting tools, along with Dragon for the red (it was the first bottle of red polish I found lol) and then with a tiny dotting tool some more Twilight.

Doing this really made me feel a lot better about having to cut my nails. ๐Ÿ™‚

Moyou Nails Review!

Hi everyone! Today I have a review post for you, I had hoped to get this done last week but I ended up going away for work so I didn’t have the time. Booo!

Here are some rather lovely things from Moyou Nails!

These items where all sent to me for my honest review!

This is What The Lovely People At Moyou Nails Sent Me For Review

This is What The Lovely People At Moyou Nails Sent.

The package included

  • White stamping polish (my choice of colour)
  • Silicone stamper
  • Plastic scraper
  • Two image plates 101 and 103 (my choice of plates)
  • And the summer 2014 catalogue
Plates 101 and 104

Plates 101 and 103

Here are the stamping plates, they are 5.5cm across and have a paper backing, they are really nicely finished with no sharp edges and the etching looks very crisp and feels like a good depth.

Moyou Nails Stamper

Moyou Nails Stamper

Here is the (rather messy) stamper (I really should get a lint roll).

The stamping head is the same size as the large end of the Konad double ended stamper, I did find that the Moyou stamper is slightly firmer than the Konad one. It needed no preparation and it picked up the images really cleanly.

Glittery Owls

Glittery Owls

The first plate I tried is 101, look at those cute little owls!

The base polish is Skyscraper from China Glaze, I wanted to use a dark polish just to see how well the white stamping polish really works and as I was already wearing this polish and I thought it would be good to practice on, but it turned out so well I decided to keep it! ๐Ÿ˜€

I have to say I was not disappointed with the stamping polish! I’ve only ever used standard polish for stamping in white until now, so I don’t actually have anything to compare this with, but the difference is remarkable! ๐Ÿ˜€ I think I’m going to have to try a few other colours from the stamping polish range! ๐Ÿ˜€

The second plate I chose is plate 103, I decided to try the zebra print design.

It turns out that french tip stamps are probably the most difficult kind of stamp to get lined up and stamped evenly, and this was my third attempt, as I have quite a pronounced c-curve to my nails I found it was very difficult to use the firm stamper so I ended up using my purple squishy stamper for this mani.

The base colour I chose is Yummy Mummy from Butter London and the black on the tips is Twilight from Filthy Gorgeous.

I used tip guides to get the lines sharp with the black polish, then a thick coat of Seche Vite for a smooth surface to stamp on.

I found it much easier to line up the image by pressing my nail onto the stamper rather than the other way around!

This is the first time I have used products from Moyou Nails and I have to say I am impressed with the quality of plates and the lovely stamping polish!

31DC2014 Day 20 Water Marble!

water marbled

water marbled

Here are my water marble nails for day 20! ๐Ÿ™‚

I decided that I wanted a glittery water marble. but it turned out to be more of a challenge than I thought…

The glitter polish I wanted to use wouldn’t work, it’s too thick and heavy, so after some swearing and spilling nail polishy water over my kitchen, I instead used it as the base colour and made the water marble with a sheer sparkly purple and black, I think it worked quite well!

The polishes I used are

  • Moon Walking – Rimmel
  • Filthy Gorgeous – Twilight
  • Purple Diamond – Sinful Colors
  • Seche Vite

Originally I was going to use a clear polish but my bottle has vanished oO

I’m really happy with how my thumb nails turned out! One day I’ll manage to get the same marbleyness on each nail! ๐Ÿ™‚

But I suppose I had better take it off and start on tomorrows nails! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m Back! 31DC2014 Day 17 Glitter

Hey everyone, I’m back ๐Ÿ˜€

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post, I have tried to write this a couple of times but my brain just hasn’t been cooperating lol!

I have been super busy! I went to a music festival which was amazing and it was really lovely to catch up with people I don’t see very often. Did a big spring clean of the flat (which I really should finish at some point) and loads of gardening, I have loads of really interesting plants and I really hope they all grow!

Anyway on to the nails! I really should have written posts to be scheduled but for some reason the music festival snuck up on me and I didn’t end up with enough time ๐Ÿ˜ฆ but I will carry on with the challenge, even with being really far behind! ๐Ÿ™‚

Glitter Nail art Rimmel Shooting Star

Glitter Nails

Here are my glittery nails for day 17.

I used Shooting Star from Rimmel, it’s from the Space Dust collection and it’s a polish that I haven’t tried before, I have to say I think it would look better with some undies.

I applied two coats but it didn’t seem to be quite opaque enough, but this doesn’t really show in the photos. When it was dry it has a slightly gritty texture so I added a coat of Seche Vite to make the stamping a little easier.

Moyou Pro XL 07

Moyou Pro XL 07

The stamped image is from Moyou Pro Collection plate XL 07 I really like this image but I think that it is too big, I do find that quite a lot with the XL plates from Moyou, the full nail patterns are the perfect size for all of my nails but the individual images are just too big :/

The black stamping polish is Konad SP in Black, then I applied another coat of Seche Vite.

Silver shiny glittery nails!

Silver shiny glittery nails!

I’m thinking of investing in a XL squishy stamper, I have the Konad hard double ended (hehe) stamper and the white and purple rectangular ones from Messy Mansion, the rectangular ones are amazing! I love the purple one so much!

Do you use a XL squishy stamper? And is it worth the investment? ๐Ÿ˜€

Black and Green Striped Nails

Day 12 Striped Nails! I decided on another simple mani for this one ๐Ÿ™‚

Black and Green Striped Nails Filthy Gorgeous Twilight Color Club Kissy

Stripy Nails

I started out with two coats of Kissy from Sinful Colors, Kissy is a really pretty teal jelly with loads of gold iridescent glitter.

When the teal polish was dry, one nail at a time I stuck on the striping tape and added a coat of Twilight from Filthy Gorgeous, then removed the tape with tweezers while the black polish was still wet.

Then I added a coat of Seche Vite, when it was dry I started on the next nail!

I do like stripy nails like this, I just wish they didn’t take as long ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Nail Studs
  • Color Club Topcoat
  • Makeup Sponge

Starting out with a base of white on white, I built up the gradient with Black Magic, Pure Midnight and White on White ย  on the makeup sponge, it took three coats, then I applied a coat of confettis and some topcoat.

Then using a bit more topcoat as glue I stuck the nail studs on!
