Flame Inspired Reciprocal Gradient Nail Art

Here is another fire inspired post!

I first tried this with yellow orange and red but I think my yellow polish doesn’t have enough pigment and my nails ended up looking like I had dipped them into a bad takeaway curry :/

But not to be defeated I tried again with my go to colours of black silver and grey!

Its not as Flamey (if that’s even a word) as I was hoping but i really love the effect! 😀

The polishes I used are Barielle shades – night moves. 17 – Smoke Signal. and Sinful Colors – Black on Black.

Seeing as it is coming up to bonfire night, here are some fire inspired nails! I started with 3 coats of The Uptown from Color Club, which is a lovely purple jelly with Multi-chrome flakies! Then using Black on Black from Sinful Colors and a thin brush I painted on the flame pattern.

Silver Waterfall Nails

I’m really enjoying trying out new (to me) nail art techniques, I realized that by only doing nail stamping I was missing out on loads of other fun nail art stuff! So here is another first for me, Waterfall nails!

I used, Deborah Lippmann – Modern Love, Deborah Lippmann – Hit Me With Your Best shot, Sinfulcolors – Time Off, Illamasqua – Snap, Nails Inc – Old Bond Street, Barielle Shades – Night Moves and China glaze – Cosmic Dust.

I started with a base colour of Modern Love from Deborah Lippmann, starting with the darkest colour using a fine brush, I painted on the stripes, making sure that each colour has stripes of different lengths.

It took quite a while to finish but I really love how this turned out! and I’m going to be trying this again with different colours! 😀

Deborah Lippmann Swatches, Modern Love, Across The Universe And Hit Me With Your Best Shot

As I was still feeling grumpy over having to cut my nails right down, I decided that the only way to make myself was to buy some more nail polish 😀

The colours are black which is called ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot’, the Nude is ‘Modern Love’ and the Blue Glitter is ‘Across The Universe’.

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Hit Me With Your Best Shot

This is a really lovely colour, I was surprised that it is actually a frost finish rather than a metallic, the formula is lovely if a little thin, very fast drying, which is lucky as this was four coats.

Modern Love

Modern Love

Modern Love is a really nice nude colour, It has an almost grey tone, which I really love as I find most nude shades to be to pink or peachy. The Formula for this polish is fantastic, it is creamy with out being to thick, and flows easily from the brush, it’s really well pigmented and this took two coats.

Across The Universe

Across The Universe

Across the universe is a lovely dark blue jelly polish with green and light blue hex glitters and mid blue micro glitters. I will recommend at least two coats of base coat with this one, the glitters seem to be extra sticky and it was a pain to remove, even with the foil method! But it’s worth it as this polish is lovely! I used three coats. The amount of glitter in this polish means it is easier to dab the polish onto the nail rather than to use longer strokes.

I have to say that I am feeling a bit better about my short (er) nails now!

Halloween Nail Art! Gore, Glitter And Flies!

Halloween Blood And Flies

Halloween Blood And Flies

For this bloody look I started with base coat and a nude base colour I used nude from Barry M.

Starting with the darkest red which is Perfect Plum From Sally Hansen new lengths range, I dabbed it in patches over my nails, I used the same technique with Ravishing Dahling from China Glaze, so I had patches of dark red.

While it was still wet I added Double Decker Red from Rimmel London over the unpainted parts of the nail, then some patches of Elle’s Spell from Barielle Shades for some sparkle! Then While it was still wet I mixed it about a little with a dotting tool to give it a slightly marbled look.

This took ages to dry even with fast dry top coat! but when it eventually was I used the Halloween stamping plate from Messy Mansion for the flies with Konad SP in Black. I finished it with one last coat of fast dry top coat from Color Club.

Purple Dotted Gradient Nail Art Using Illamasqua And Color Club

Here is a purple dotted gradient rather than a gradient with dots…

I started with a couple of coats of Secret agent from Color Club, then starting with the darkest colour I added the dots, more at the base of my nail.

The black is Vamp Polish from Eyeko, the other purples are Baptiste and poke both from Illamasqua.

I finished it off with a coat of fast dry topcoat from color club, the color club top coat dried quickly but it’s not as shiny as Seche Vite and I have noticed that the polish chips quite a bit faster and tends to drag the polish a bit more :/
