inspired by not seeing any blue sky for a while
Inspired by a colour…
For this I chose a colour I haven’t seen for a while, Sky blue! It has been really wet and cloudy where I live, not very spring like at all!
My first choice for this was going to be purple, I put all of my purple polishes onto my desk (I have a lot more of them than I thought!) and I looked at them, and nothing! not a drop of inspiration! Went and had a cup of tea, glared at the pile of purple polish from the sofa, I’m usually ok at choosing a polish and working what it will look nice with or what kind of pattern it would suit, but clearly not today!
I decided to have a break and pottered off to do some gardening, while I was grubbing about in a pot of lilies, I was thinking how nice it would be to have some blue sky!

blue!
For my sky blue nails I used
- 17 – Heart Beat
- Barry M – Blueberry Ice Cream
- Sinful Colors – Paradise
- China Glaze – White on White
- Konad SP – Black
- Messy Mansion – MM14
- Seche Vite
This really was very easy, I used the three pale blues for the very subtle gradient, the clouds I used a large dotting tool, and then stamped the birds over the top!

It’s not purple but I really like it! 🙂

Dots for day 11
These are my dotty nails for day 11!
I can’t believe I’m already a third of the way through this challenge already! 😀

31DC2014 Day 11 Dots
the polishes I used are
- Sinful Colors – Mauve
- Illamasqua – Bapitste
- China Glaze – Bizarre Blurple
- Color Club – Secret Agent
- Barielle – Grape Escape
- China Glaze – Get Outta My Space
- Illamasqua – Poke
I used Mauve as the base colour then added the dots with a large dotting tool, starting with the darkest polish, when I got to using Get Outta My Space I switched over to using a medium dotting tool and covered over a few of the gaps 🙂

31DC2014 Day 11 Dots
It was only after I had finished that I realized that this was supposed to be a dotted pattern! Ooops 😛

Black and White skittle
My Black and White nails, I couldn’t resist another skittle for this! 😀
The Polishes I used are,
- China Glaze White on White
- Elegant Touch French Manicure White
- Sally Hansen Pure Midnight
- Filthy Gorgeous Twilight
- L’Oreal Confettis
- Konad SP Black
My first step was to paint all my nails with two coats of White on White.
For my thumb I used Twilight and White on White. Starting with a simple french tip, (I used a guide) I added the first dots with a medium dotting tool, then with a thin brush I filled in the gaps, then added the second dots with a small sized dotting tool.
For my index finger over the White on White I used Konad Black with Suki 06 XL plate from Moyou.

Black and White skittle
On my middle finger I used French Manicure White, Pure Midnight and Twilight for the sponged gradient, it took three layers before it was ‘gradienty’ enough then I added the Confettis, I found the brush for the glitter topcoat was rather scratchy, I don’t know if it was bits of glitter in the brush or the brush itself, it scraped some of my gradient 😦
For the water marble I used French Manicure White and Twilight. Both of these polishes worked really well, they even spread over the water at the same rate! 😀
Finally for my little finger I used some more Twilight and a medium dotting tool!
Then when it was dry I applied my topcoat and had a cup of tea!

Maybelline Electric Yellow and China Glaze White On White
Here are my yellow nails for day 3 of the 31DC2014 challenge.
for this I started with three coats of Electric Yellow from Maybelline Color Show, then I used White On White from China Glaze for the freehand V shaped french tips, then I added the dots with a medium sized dotting tool!
This was a really quick and easy design to do (which I’m really glad about, I probably should have thought through doing two challenges at the same time!)

I still don’t like yellow

Fried egg nails
Here are my yellow nails for the GOT Polish Challenge! I really don’t like yellow nail polish so this was actually quite difficult for me to come up with anything interesting, I was just staring at the bottles of polish waiting for some kind of inspiration.
I only have 3 bottles of yellow nail polish and one of those is new, so my yellow choices where rather limited, eventually I chose this!

This is a polish I have had for a while, it came free with some cleaning stuff oO (I’m not going to start on gender stereotyping… But Yay for free nail polish lol)

Fried eggs
I don’t like fried eggs, and I don’t like yellow nail polish so it’s a match made in heaven (or hell depending on how you look at it)
I applied two coats of not marigold yellow then added the egg whites with China Glaze White on White and a large dotting tool, then for the yokes, some more Not Marigold and a medium sized dotting tool!

Woohoo! I actually managed to get this post done in time! 😀 So here are my ruffle nails for the GOT Polish Challenge!
Here is a quick recap of the rules:
- The polish you use should be at least one year old.
- If you haven’t been a polishaholic that long, you can use the oldest polishes you have.
- The polish should be previously used, but if you’re stuck, you could free a yearling from Mount Untried.
- You can use more than one polish as long as it fits the theme and the rules.
For my ruffled nails I used Azure from Rimmel (untried as far as I can remember) and White On White from China Glaze (which I have had for ages)

Blue Ruffles
This was my second attempt at a ruffle mani, the first time I tried this technique I ruffled my whole nail, and OMG it made my nails look so wide oO it was like my fingernails had been replaced with toenails D: I have wide nails anyway and I can’t stand anything that makes them look even wider!

Blue Ruffle Nail Art
So for my second try I decided on a french tip, I think this looks quite nice, like clouds or waves 🙂
To do a ruffle mani it is actually really quite simple, just slightly overlapping rows of dots. Just make sure the previous row of dots is dry! I used a medium sized dotting tool!
As my camera was being nice to me today here is a close up! 😀

Close up!
